Guys I get sound drop out every 10 seconds for about a second on premium channels until I turn box off then on again very annoying does anyone have any ideas why please

Try turning off the PVR or unpluging your external drive temporarily.

dont know if it helps for you mate, but go into the PVR settings and disable "timeshift".
Once thats done, it might work, did for me, i was getting really annoyed with the drop outs, now it works a treat.

thanks for the tip, i had this issue and now this is cured.
does this issue depend on the quality/type of hard drive?.

does this issue depend on the quality/type of hard drive?.I read it's because any usb stick/hdd that gets its power from the usb itself, possibly drawing too much power. It's best to use hdd with a separate power supply.
