I dont know much about merc keys myself. Only thing ive done is program used EZS and keys into cars by virginising engine ecu and steering lock then using star programmed them all back together.

Thats why like your post, so i too can learn from it.

Fair enough :) But thats really useful info as i was wondering what my backup would be if i **** it all up. know what to do with BMW (i think!) and will research into what you just said - many thanks.

You will also need a Mercedes star m8. It's the merc dealer tool. I use a clone and it's done everything I've asked it to.

obdmaster, if I have full abritus Mercedes would I still need star when working on Mercedes, is there functions on star that avdi has not got? this Is regarding keys, kind regards

Avdi is very good tool for virgin ESL and engine ecu. Some engine ecu eep you can read write by obd.

I have avdi merc but I also have merc star as it has functions AVDI cant do. Like if you fit used EZS and key that has wrong vehicle configuration you can rectify this using star.

Also you will need star to program virgin units back together after virginising. Star is very strong tool and also very good for diagnosing immobiliser problems.

for key programming AK500 or AK500+ or AK500 Pro all the same thing but different package and diferent prices .
with the AK500 + or PRO u are reading the 705 by desoldering and the 908 , 912 and 9s12 by wiring , some 9s12 are killed with ak500 it depends on ur luck .
i do like 6 benz a day , i use Rosfar red box , Xprog or orange5 for reading , Online calculator and MBE EVO for writing nec .
with benz u go cheap , u will pay the price at one point

Assfour i see you have the MB key EVo, when you read the EIS by Infrared can you use SKC tool instead of mbkeyonline calculator ? the tool who read the EIS by infra-red he read the full dump or just some hash data? Can you read all eis type by infrared instead using programmer?

with EVO u dont need SKC or any online calculator , the EVO will do everythin for u, u wont need any other tool with evo to program benz. u read all EIS and not Full Dump, u read only the data the hashes. password u get it from the working key

And for a lost key situation using the evo you would only need to read the eis with rosfar and then the evo will do everything else?

I think what your saying is i can read by infra-red on Digimaster an existing key (the EIS) and with help of a Skc to calculate key.

Abritus kit looks good and would be the 'safe' option but for now Digimaster looks good. And also be a backup for BMW + other smart stuff.

Eventually save up for the EVO :)

Can see myself being right kit'ed up by this time next year. watch this space :)

for lost key situation you will do the key the OLD normal way , Reading by any Programmer ( Rosfar, xprog ....) calculate SKC , Write with EVO

donno a lot about Abritus BENZ , i ve never needed it to use it , as for digimaster ? i dont think u can read EIS with a digimaster by IR , and even if u can wt u read from the EIS by IR is only the data and not the whole dump, the data are useless with SKC if there is no Password .
the best tool and safest still in my point of view is the EVO key making wise
