Sorry in advance I am a newbie to all this. Just got the f6 do I need to load a channel list before I try to put a gift on ?

Can anyone help ?do I have to install the channel list before it stores them? Like I say new to all this -

Load a channel list on first to make sure all the fta channels are working then the gift to see if others start working.
