Well I tried it as 93c76 and it was reading ok but not writing too..You don't think if I replace the 93c76 it will fix it?

does car start and run? and your gonna need a dump

gwee

please use other programmer instead of carprog to read and write.

FxShaw

yea it starts and run fine..but how was it I was able to write fine when connect direct to the chip? when I took the needle out and connect to the chip.I had no problem with it what so ever...why would I need a new dump btw? BTW taking the needles and puting them back wasn't that hard that all...it was really easy.

Unfortunately I only have one programmer.

Of course it will start even without that eeprom, key is not in the cluster :)

No one told you is hard to remove needles for this car :D

Thank you guys for all the help and support I finally figure it out..file was corrupt and when I went to write the mileage it wont write..solution: carprog always make a backup so I edit back up and figure out that even though I was connected directed to the chip it still wouldn't write w/o applying 3.3 voltage..which is weird and a first for me...anyways I fixed the same old cluster :-D!!

I have a cheap and reliable programmer for almost all of the eeprom chips. I found carprog, xprog and other clone software does not work sometimes. Reading eeprom chips without even removing is 100% success for me with this little programmers. You can buy in eBay for less than $50. Which is SP8-B version. Best thing with this programmer is the software. If you have not connected pins correctly to the board's eeprom, it will show you a graphical view of which pin(s) are not connected or wrong in connection. So, you will not make any mistakes. 100% works and trusted for me for more than 2years by now. I only use XProg, UPA or other programmers for read and write MCU's.
