YOU NEED TO PROGRAM AS DEALER KEY FIRST AND THEN LEARN KEY

I DID THAT obviously :)

Think i'll try manual mode rather than auto.

Wizard mode works fine with RB8 on vag 21.0. Done 2 in the last week.
It should auto detect system - prepare dealer key - learn. with CAN chip. no pin required.
When you read RB8, did you see what the immo status was?

The late A4 on 8E/8H are normaly straight forward. The earlier RB8 around 2005/06 are the ones where cluster read would be RB8 but programming would be using the earlier system, but the AVDI would inform you of that.

i havnt tried wizard mode for a while due to the failures i had with this on wizard , i got in habit of using manual mode and stuck with it , good to know this is working well now on these with version 21 , il try it again on next one.

Don't bother Martin, I'am using version 21.

Put it this way - if Abritus were 100% sure they would replace "standard mode" for wizard. Hmm i think AD may soon be a future upgrade option as secondary backup.

i doubt you will need a secondary option mate especially on vag , avdi has never let me down on one of these using manual , if derrick is having no issues with wizard then i guess alot of bugs are fixed , hes straight talking and not the sort to mislead , if he says it is better now it will be , it doesnt matter what the make or model , you are always going to get the odd one that fights you and doesnt play nice .

im looking forward to the new update to 22 being sent out .

i dont think any unit is 100% , though if you find one that is then please let me know as we all want 100% but i havnt seen the unit yet .

failing on a vehicle is a balls ache , we all do it , i dont blame the kit , i prefer to try and find out why and get some answers and learn from it .

did you send logs to abrites , they may be able to shed some light on whats happening and a solution for you .

What engine is in this car?

On an 08 Audi a4 using avdi it shouldn't matter about engine type as all data is read from rb8 cluster . I've done loads of these and never had a problem. But I don't use wizard mode I use standard key learning procedure . As Derick has said they're are a few early ones where you do em like rb4 but on 08 avdi should wiz threw this.

well went back today - Manual mode worked fine on v21, automatic didn't.
only other thing could of been the chinese chip?

Manual mode is great tho - no problem using that.
would like to see the software integrated more - afterall AD are catching up and hopefully AVDI will have some new coverage to stay ahead of the game !!

thanks all for input :) beer time lads

Audi A4 can be a mixed bag.
Half of them don't need a pin code and no precoding, others need precoding a programming under audi a4 2002+
I use wizard first to identify what type it is. It will give you a warning if it finds cs bytes in the ignition.
Follow the instructions using standard key learning if it says so.

Do not pussy out half way through the operation though as it puts the dash into some sort of service mode where it will display "low-low" or something like that. I'm guessing if you mess with the dash in this mode it will be a bad day for you.
