Hello, im having trouble using the Read KM function on some scripts I've downloaded from here so i asked elrasoft (who i bought it from) the problem and explained what im doing and this was the reply

">do you need to have the eeprom/micro connected to use a script?
Yes in most cases
Although this depend of the script algorithm"

is this the case? if so does anyone have a script where i do not need to connect the the eeprom/micro so i can test it?

The script need it to verify the integrity of readed files.. you can test also the dump by using the "open" button. the script will read the value of the dump

but for reading, it really need to include the "ReadDevice" command

You can also test the script by just connecting the UPA programmer, but for what reason? the progrrammer wili fill "FFFFFFF" or "000000' in the hexeditor buffer...

Why?? i just want to edit a file using a script, without having to connect to the eeprom! is this not possible? so i don't want to read the eeprom again, i have the data saved on my HD but when i click "open", then select a file (in this case 93c66.bin) and click the "renault" script under devices and then "read km" under actions (top bar) i just get "read error" why is this? what am i doing wrong?

You are getting read error because you are not reading a device. For experimenting, buy all the different eeproms and write your files to them. Then read them and you will not get read error. I have a full set of soic eeproms mounted on dil adapters so they can be read as a dil or a soic and they are used solely for test purposes. Arthur.

Ok cheers Arthur got some here to test with! So it's not possible to read km without having upa connected to the chip?

Scripts are not my thing but it may depend on how the script is written ie. whether it will work on a loaded file, or only when a chip is read. Arthur.

You can use this if you want only to edit the file http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f174/etsmart-calculators-v1-free-all-407190/
just read the whole thread and understand and all the possible question & answer are in the whole thread

Arthur, so what chips do you use mainly for testing? Sorry to hijack thread but seems like a good idea to me. :)
