Bmw E46 EWS 3.3 Immo problem

Hello friends,

I have a car that I can't find out what is the problem.Car came in as a intermittent start problem,in about 1 of 20 attempts to start,the car starts.Car wouldn't crank.I have read diagnostics.
EWS gives:
Key 2 Password incorrect
Key 2 not recognized
DME gives:
27A4 EWS 3.3 interface DME-EWS


I have read key with zedbull,key was read correctly everytime.We replaced the antenna,car was working OK for 3-4 days,then the same problem again.

Scanned the car again,same fault codes.Car is a no starter now.Also when going into live data scanning of the EWS.Key number jumps from 1-10.Like it isn't detecting key in ignition.

What should be done?I must also mention,the car has only 1 key,which is key number 2.
Also antenna is tested with coil tester and it works when the car is unlocked,when locked it stops working(i think this is normal).Remote control functions OK.

Hi,

there are only 2 possibilities, damaged EWS oder damaged key.
If you have the equipment just copy EWS-data to another (used) ews with same HW SW version.
If this does not help you have to buy a new key.

I desoldered antenna coil from PCB,and put in the PCF7935 instead.Car starts everytime now.
