View Full Version : Renault Scenic PH2 Emergency key cutting
Fallen

Hi Chaps,
I made keys to a PH2 Renault Scenic the other day but I had problems cutting the emergency key.
I used a Lishi 2 in 1 and picked the lock fine and also decoded fine.
I tried to use Miracle A5 to cut the key but when I tried to cut it, it gave me a warning that it would cut into the vice holding the blade.
I held the blade in the upper part of the jaw and it appeared to cut ok but it wouldn't go into the key hole.
Forgot what I tried to cut it using (which doesn't help, I know).
Anybody cut these regularly on the A5?
Thanks

Did another one today, this time I had an original key to decode and copy.
Lishi read door lock as 213442
A5 using VA2 decoded as 213613
I can see now why my first decoded key did not work.
The key I cut from the decoded key worked fine, I had to hold it in the top vice though.
Is there another tool I should be using to decoded these locks or another option to cut them on using the A5?
The wafers in the Megane lock are all on one side, not 1 up 1 down.
This is where the confusion is coming in.
I cant be the only person who is doing megane 2 with all keys lost!

its reading as a va2 as decoding heights that dont exist , the lishi is correct as only 5 heights on this key .
i dont use a5 so not sure if the series is on a5 , you want ic card 1105 for these , i suspect you are cutting on 1125 or 1126 va2 , you need 1105 if you can select by ic card on a5 .

I use A5 for these regular with no problem, I use same tool as your picture to decode too. On A5, select renault, and the first option is renault H7 or something like that, select this and you will need to place a thinj strip of metal under key blade to raise it slightly (My A5 came with 2 bits off metal to aid HU66 I think, I use the flat strip).
This method tried and tested by me hundreds of times and never fails :)

For me the best way is to have few locks with blades and just change lock. Fast and 100% working.

there is no right one, i use a combination of 2 lishi's, 1 to pick and 1 to decode, unless you want to lie down to decode :)

Well I would like to see you removing the door and ignition lock faster than someone could pick/decode and cut a key. Even if you said 5 minutes to pick and decode the lock then 5 minutes to cut the key can you change the locks this quick?
Also very unprofessional to change the locks - at least remove a lock and strip/decode it and cut the correct key - its people like you that make life harder to do a proper job doing stuff like just changing the iginition lock making it a pain to make a key in the future if they loose the keys.

On a megane, you can just clutch the lock around 180 degrees so it's facing the right way up.
Not sure if this works on a scenic, imagine it would.

Ignition lock? In this car? Door lock is the only lock. How does it make your life harder? If you want you can fight with this, result will be the same. Key must fit in just only one place, door lock. I don't have much time and if I can make the work faster than I do it. Or I'm missing something and you're talking about old scenic with normal key. If it's old one then of course you're right.

On my planet Megane 2 doesn't have ignition lock. So it's good that you all know what you're talking about. All from me. Regards

i think paul is just relating to any job, and yes, i would beat you by picking, decoding and cutting a door key before you could change the lock.
The next one i get I will video, less than 3 mins for whole process.

I think you'll find it wasn't me that said I know what I'm talking about.. but yes ninja is right I was commenting in general on people doing things like changing 1 lock when damaged leaving the customer with 2 keys rather than repairing / or rekeying a lock.. doing immo offs simply because they haven't got a run-of-the-mill tool to program a transponder.. etc etc
what happens when someone in the future orders a key from the dealers with the wrong blade then one day the remote dies and they can't use the emergency key to gain access, are you going to go out to open the car?
