Hello all,
Please dont flame me, ive not done this before.

I have a mk5 golf with a faulty ECU, and have a 2nd hand ECU that i want to fit to this car.
I have BDM and FG tools available, as far as i understand, this will read the flash data from each ecu. What program do i use to modify the vin and mileage? will i need to correct the checksum after changing these things??

Can i simply read flash from original ecu, then copy flash to 2nd ecu? does that copy all the vin data??

Would it be better to just change the vin in the 2nd ecu, just in case the flash in original is damaged???

Details from ECU
03C 906 032 B
MED17.5.1
0 261 201 320

Please, any help will be appreciated!

Thanks

Hi thanks for the reply, what software program do you want me to read the data in?
I have the original ecu flash read by the FGtech, but the 2nd hand wont read due to immo?? is that correct?

Thanks

FGTech_BOOT_TRICORE_User_Manual
check this in your manual med17.5.1 and read booth ecus

there's no way to clone 1:1 your ecus like edc16 or me9.x
it's a tricore with otp zone
only way is immo off your second ecu, and optionally you can also change mileage and vin into e2p and correct e2p checksum before rewrite into.
