Hi!
I have tried to read a 2013 VW Amarok BiTdi 180 ps with edc17 c54 using K-tag.
It can easily get id an starts to read until %63 but when it comes to %63 it says "reading error" and it stops the reading process?
All connections are OK, i also replace the sdcard files with a known fully working Ktag's files but no success.
What may be the problem?
Can it be related with the supplied 12 V power adapter?
Regards...

If your ktag is clone you can't read this ecu. Only last update from 2014 can do make this ecu. I try this ecu with ktag, fgtech v54, magpro without success. But all tools when i use are not updated to last year. Only CMD read/write ok but is updated to last version.

It reads it until %63 (%66 one time) then says "error reading" and cut the connection.
If it can't read it, it can't start to read i think.
It can read the eprom, but can't read the flash.

Yes. This is the situation with old tools. They can read some versions, but not all.

Is it because of the chinese 12 volt power adapter?

No. I use quality filtered power supply :)

Did your clone behave like mine?
Did it read it until %63 and then shows error or it can't read at the beginning?

Hi
Today same problem con vag edc17c46, skoda yeti 2.0tdi 110cv year 2011.
I test with two ktag clone, one old versi?n, one led only, read internal micro-ok, read eeprom, ok.
Anhoter ktag, new versi?n cinesse, several leds, read eeprom-ok, but read internal micro, stop at 10% read, sector 20000.
Fgtech v53 cinesse, read-write without problema.

Hi
I know this is an old thread but I'm having the same problem reading a Amarok edc17c54 ecu with ktag eu clone 7.020
I can read the eeprom ok but it will usually fail at 63% at sector 00x002800 when reading the micro "error in reading"
I've tried a 13.5v 5amp power supply into the ktag with no change.
Tried both ksuite 2.23 and 2.25

Did anyone find a solution?
Do I need to rework the ktag?
I bought this one http://www.uobdii.com/wholesale/kess-v5017-red-pcb-plus-ktag-7020-red-pcb.html

Thanks

Ktag 8.000 have this protocol (TC1797)updated from 1.5(7.020) to 1.8 so maybe is time to take next step with tool...

Just an update for anyone having the same problem...

I'm not sure why but it's working perfectly now. I tried powering the ECU directly on pins 1 (gnd) and pin 5 (12v) with ctek battery charger but it was still stopping at 63%.
I was testing this on a spare ebay ecu which came from a csha Amarok. I tried selecting cnfa instead of csha in ktag and got it to fully read only once and then when back to 63% error.

I decided to pull my original ecu from the car, selected CNEA in ktag and it was working every time

I reconnected the ebay ecu and now it was reading and writing perfectly everytime. I did it 5 times in a row.

I think it was a bad connection to the ktag or something wasnt set correctly in ksuite

I didnt get it too with Ktag! Get the same problem, only till 63%. Try different voltage. At least work with Kess in Tricore mode, with Tricore module, 13,8V supply. BUT it work only with protocol for EDC17C46 (P269). With EDC17C54 (P420) didnt work. Ksuite 2.25 with Kess 5.017.
