hey guys, im trying to install rosfar on a new laptop (xp), it seems to have installed ok for a install file i had saved but when i click on the .exe file it just gives me a error saying "unable to open serial port", I've tried installing drivers by connecting rosfar to laptop and it automatically searches for the drivers, it said it had found a driver and installed it but still i have the same problem, My antivirus is disabled and im running 32bit xp system, Any ideas guys? if i need other drivers installing has anyone got them? Cheers

Plug rosfar in to PC and power up with adapter. Go to control panel and select system device manager and look for rosfar should come up as a com port click it and check it's been assigned a com port from 1 to 4 if not change it to 1-4 as any other number rosfar will not pick up

My problem with r260 is when trying to make a test, the computer freezes every time. I installed drivers and tried all COM ports 1-4 and still freezes every time. Somebody know what to do? I have windows XP 32 bit. Tried software version 9.2 and then 9.6.

Thanks for the answer but when I was doing this I had no any other programs running. I don't have anti virus at all on this laptop so still don't know the reason. Anyway, I will check on another PC.

its 1 program that run auto in the back!
you should shut them down 1 by 1 and check if r260 will run.

Check your com ports under device manager... Make sure you have no duplicate ports (ie a serial com port and a virtual com port sharing the same number).

I installed on PC with 1 core processor and now the program does not freeze but still not working because of CAN/VAN RCAN searching. Tried every COM port but I think the device is broken. Any ideas?

Or maybe it's fine? I don't understand sentence "works ony on the full programmers". What do you guys have in that window in your rosfar? Anyway I will buy CAS module and try connect and read.

I dont know what the CAN/VAN - RCAN is, but when I do the test I have the same result as you. (red plastic clone)

I've done a few CAS3 0L15Y without problems.

Ok, thanks. I will get CAS module for a reading test and report how it's going.

I tested today on CAS3 0L15Y and it works :). So simply if somebody got CAN/VAN - RCAN - searching it's not an issue.
