VAS 5054a Chinese scam?

Hi all!
My friend bought the eBay chinese clone VAS 5054, he asked me to help him install the software, but after several failed attempt, we decided to open the interface, we were surprised when we saw that half his chips !!!!!!
Has anyone experience with this interface?
Is it in general can work?

you bought cheap....and got junk......pay more and buy better(+look for the decent pcb pictures)
