at the moment he has sky but sure what dish he uses etc, i only use cable so just unsure bout doing a 500s for the first time ,i really could do with a step by step guide to follow for the first time ,also my mate lives a fair distance away so most things id have to talk him through it over the phone and he is not really tech minded lol ,all advice gratefully recieved also does he need to have a card in it to get his channels and will he get all the channels he does now
many thanks

with the dm500 and using a sky dish you will only get like the free channels
without a sky subsciption
unless he gets a motorised setup, but seeing he not very techy lol
it dosent work the same way as cable with keys and emu,s
unless its using card sharing which is very hard to setup which cant be spoke about on here
a sky card will work in it but defeats the object if you all ready have sky lol

depends if hes after all the channels or certain packages might as well do it legit
or if not worried about all channels a freesat hd box or something like that for one off payment for the box easy to setup :)

ok thanks i just thought it would be as easy as flashing the image and adding keys etc to get all the channels like ive done with mine and my cousins 500c but if its gonna be hassle ill advise him against it dont really wanna talk myself into tech support on something im not completly sure about ,i did tell him to get vm but he is thinks its not available in his area
thanks for advice
