Hi Guys,
My DM500S is permanently on standby no matter what i try i can't get it to power on.
I can flash/erase firmware with dreamup i can access the box with DCC and also the web interface but when i plug it in to the tv/sat nothing. It just sits with the standby led lit.
I also have a DM600S and i've tried its power supply and still the same.
Any one have any ideas?
oh, its an original DM500S, well according to the MAC address anyway LOL

If you are able to access the dm500 in any way than I do not think it needs to be jtagged. Try unzipping the file attached and flashing that to your dm500 and then flashing a dreambox image to your dm500.

You should only jtag your box when all else fails and there is literally nothing you can possibly do to your your box to make it respond to you i.e basically when your box is dead for all intents and purposes.

HI Curious123,
I've already tried this and it still didn't work!
Any other Ideas?

You wrote that "I can flash/erase firmware with dreamup i can access the box with DCC and also the web interface but when i plug it in to the tv/sat nothing. It just sits with the standby led lit."
If you can communicate with the Box, it means that it lets you complete the set-up, no? So, at what stage after flashing with Dreamup does it go into standby?

As soon as i turn the box on, the red standby led lights up and thats it, nothing! however as of today im having trouble connecting with DCC yet i can still still flash/erase with dreamup???

Have you been flashing a raw Image or a backup?

I've been flashing a raw image, i don't have a backup image,
lost it when my hard drive failed and forgot to make a new backup!
Silly me!!!

Silly question but are you flashing the same image all the time or have you tried various dm500 images?

I would try again what Curious suggested in Post #4. For some odd reason, it may not work the first time but may require a second try before it works. And it's the best method that there is. The Dreamup Version which I currently use for my DM500 is V 1.3.3.4.

OK!
Thanks satfoot i done what curious suggested i used his erase.img and flashed pli.img. I think i'm getting somewhere, i can now see the dreambox in my router, i can DCC and Flashfxp into the dm500 and also access the webinterface. But still sitting with standby led on constant.
On the webinterface i went to shutdown and brought up a list shutdown/restart/reboot/standby/wakeup.
Should i click wakeup maybe????

Try that I think it may just be the control board for the PIR thats faulty or the PIR has slipped down out of range of the remote!

Guys you are all stars,
I have it up and running with pli.img, however i can't control the box using the remote control?
The remote is definitely working, i checked the led by looking through my mobile, so i have to control it using the remote on the web interface.
Think portbhoy might be right re the PIR, is there anywhere that i can get a replacement?
Thanks again for all your help so far

Google it you'll find one I'm sure it's an easy fix, you may try and open the box and see if the sensor has dropped down from it's little window may be as simple as that!

Oh and for the record if it's connected via a router you can control it by using the web interface just type the boxes IP into your browser ;)
