BMW 5 series F10 (says F20 on fuse card)
2013 estate car
i was called out to a bmw yesterday
the passenger side mirror will not move in any direction.
7.5amp fuse under bonnet in tact as the driver mirror works fine
ps i have the switch on the driver door card moved to the left lol
anyways
i too apart the mirrors
passenger has 2 x 3 sets of wires going on
the set with the orange wire in i believe is the power for the electric mirror and indicator light
where the other with 3 blue wires is the motor control
i took apart the motor and made sure it was all working
i applied 12v to either side of the 3 pins on the motor housing to make sure the motors are working, both are fine
and both work fine with the wires reversed.
so i took apart the drivers side mirror
this one was a little diff inside
apart from the obvious little ecu controller
it had like a hazard triangle light on there.
indicator light, some other little black box and a lot more wires
the initial harness plug had one less that the passenger side ?!?!
i mean it had the 3 power ones same as the passenger side
but only had 2 x blue wires !
not sure where this goes from here
the passenger side does have 14v there as the car was on a booster
same as the driver side
the center wire had like 10v on either side and the other was GND
so im stumped here
the switch in the dirvers door is not controlling the passenger mirror in any way at all
i pulled the carpet up at the passenger side and unscrewed the big white module there ! convenience box ??
not sure
anyways i noticed the door wires went into this module (all fuses ok on this too) but
the blue wires ran across the back over to the drivers side somewhere
can anyone help me out here as ive been on this car 2 days now trying to sort the problem
its a police vehicle so no warranty as they cut n chop all sorts of things.
ive tried a mirror from the same year and spec car but once i plugged that mirror in the drivers side the mirror had a mind of its own
is this little black ecu on the back of the drivers mirror coded to the car ? and if so in what way ?
