Does anyone use video editing software?

I want to take mpg video from my camcorder, edit them and put them onto DVD with maybe some mp3 over the top of it.

I've installed Corel VideoStudio Pro X2 but I'm not warming to it.

Any recommendations please?

Cheers! :)

I use video converting software but again it may not be for your particular job, mainly for divx/xvid movies to dvd.

If of any use i will send you a copy via mail, its convertx2dvd.

Thanks Cunny, doesn't sound like that's what I need.

I'll be taking a lot of footage, not necessarily in the correct order, and I want to mix it about and add music over the top of it. :)

I have always been a fan of Adobe Premiere. It is quite easy when you know what you are doing!!! Try it and see.

Adobe Premier is seriously good.
Pinacle Studio is also ok (its just a cheap knock off of pinacle tbh), ive been forced to use pinacle in the past and its fairly intuative.

Windows movie maker is also ok for small "play" projects, where you dont nessisarily need anything as polished as profesional software will provide.

Id definately search for a cracked version of Premier though (retail version = extortion), it will do absoloutly everything you need it to do, and if it doesnt there will be a plugin somewhere for it that will.

I use Adobe Premiere to but I find it a bit hard to get started with, so I mostly use Ulead Movie Factory, it's simple to use and burns your movies straight to DVD.

Sony Vegas is quite good, premiere is very good but hard to get your head around. i usually use a couple of different apps for different stages.

() Movie Maker - gets the AVI's from my DV tapes (using firewire) , also pretty good for chopping up/adding text. Only export as AVI (not WMV)
() Nero Vision/Movie Maker - further editing/adding stuff like audio, effects then export as MPEG. Nero Vision also supports movies as background for menus - so while the buttons aren't animated - your background for the buttons can be! (if u use Nero Vision for creating the DVD structure and not DVD Lab see below)
() DVD Lab - Great for constructing menus, what plays first, etc using a handy 'flow chart' style GUI - only supports MPEGs but really is a easy to use tool.

let us know what u find to be best!!

Pinnacle Studio is really easy to just pick up and start using, and most of the time its all you'll ever need. It also gets all your video off dv tape via firewire.

For when you want to do something a bit more advanced I'd use Adobe Premiere. Its not that much harder to pick up than pinnacle but it has many more options and control.
