Hi

I just bought a genuine dm600T and set it up for chorus mmds. The problem is when i try for sky sports 2 and a few other channels the signal is too weak and is breaking up barely coming through. Then if i switch to a eurovox tx its perfect with the mmds aerial in the exact same place. So it seems that the tuner in the DM is weak or something. Also it is the same for Channel 4. I am using a replacement mmds downcoverter from _iwantabox. Anyone have any ideas? In a nutshell the eurovox works perfectly then when i switch to an orginal dm 600T some of the channels wont come through.

Thanks

so the same channels too? are going from yours. Can I ask are you in the Kerry region? also I have always had my aerial inside the attic and it has worked fine, now I am wondering if it would need to be outside for the dm 600. I am considering returning the dm600 as I cannot pick up these channels. I have repowered the psu numerous times and tried the aerial in many different locations still the same issue. I will try again today.

i should also say that now when i go to channel 4 or sky sports 2 the SNR is 99% then it drops to 21% and jumps back up but there is no picture

@erukus

what is the voltage going up to the aereal? You might be giving it to much.

currently it is 24 volts

currently it is 24 voltsSee if you can find an 18v you might be getting too much signal. On the bad channels is lock & sync flicking?
what are your snr agc & ber on the bad channels?

SNR is flickering all over the place 99% to 87% to 23% AGC is 63% BER 165429 I will try to source an 18V psu

ok just took the box to another house with an 18V psu an original chorus downconverter which is outside and Hey presto

all channels worked fine so thank you well spotted the 18V psu must be the diff also I wonder what part the original downconverter and the fact that it is outside are playing?

I spent half a day yesterday in the attic...............

Here is my scenario........i have a replacement mmds downconverter from the iwantabox website......i have both an 18v psu and a 24v psu.....i have an original dm600T and a eurovox tx.......

i am getting 97%-98% snr on most of the channels......there is one frequency370.000MHz....(channels include at the races, CBBC, Ceebies) which the signal is not as good a bit of flickering...on this frequency it is much worse on the original dreambox than on the eurovox.......then also on the eurovox i get about 6 channels on 258.000MHz including sky sports 2, channel 4 etc........but on the dreambox i dont get any of these channels.......i get no lock on this frequncy....mark hemming sat store has sent me out another tuner to see if that makes any difference but it doesn't its the same thing......

i was going to try and get an original chorus downconverter.....i ad one and gave it away.....when i had that all the channels worked on the eurovox but i never tried it with the dreambox......or else maybe it cause i am in the attic maybe it would be better outside......which isnt really an option for me......i did have all the channels working in the attic on a eurovox b4 .......... any help greatly appreciated.

u def need to get dat aerial pointing at the mast m8
is it just in the attic or pointin out a window from the attic
and are u hittin the main mast on the mountain or beam bender ?

its in the attic pointing at the mast but there is no line of sight I get all the channels now on eurovox tx and clone dreambox but not original from inside the attic. It is pointing at the mast yes....

In a nutshell....i had an original chorus downconverter/aerial in the attic(no windows just pointing at mast from inside) and have used box-t, eurovox tx, digivox tx, clone dreambox500T, and have got all the channels then i switch to a replacement downconverter and get all channels apart from one freq with dreambox 600T original....i have tried a couple of diff tuners in it same prob....maybe it needs to go outside to work fully or needs an original downconverter? hopefully just the latter...as we dont want to put aerial outside

Most dreambox 500T and 600T tuners are 'weak' at 258MHz. Mine is ok but a friend of mine got 2 600t's
and they are both pick up nothing at that frequency.
Putting the aerial outside should get you a stong enough signal
that may pick up the missing channels.
Some people here with the same problem got downconverters
with output frequency of about 600Mhz, which fixed there missing channel problem for them

Spot on Duracell.
Its definitely a weak tuner and the only option is to change the downconverter to one with a lower Intermediate Frequency,i.e 1838Mhz ,that will solve the problem.

Ok so maybe if I try the original downconverter it will work with that as I have only tried with a replacement one...

@red devil...no its not that one it looks the exact same as the original chorus one except it uses diff frequences...just a replacement downconverter... you can see it on iwantabox website....

thanks for the help will try with an original one over the weekend if i can get my hands on one....

@ red devil........ya dont wanna put it outside as its at my dads place and he is not up for putting it outside for obvious reasons....

good to see u are making progress
if u cant get a 214 downconverter let me know
i know someone in ur area dat might help u out ;)

or get one like in post #11 they are really discreet and will work
without the antenna connected to downconverter cos ur in strong sig area
only 6"x6" and 2" thick wont even be noticed ;)
