nuvi hangs on loading maps

hi guys found a forgotton about garmin nuvi last week and tried to update 2009 maps,i followed a tut from youtube and managed to install a new 2014 uk,ire,ice map on sd card, after a few hangs same as i'm getting now (loading with sd card inserted) or garmin nuvi1310 without sd. it came on i went into settings/maps unticked old map and ticked 2014 one and worked fine..then i got greedy and downloaded a bigger map (western europe ) tried put that on sd card,got message saying file name already exists replace with this bigger file so i ticked yes. now when i connect to pc i get garmin screen with green loading bar which stops around 20% an is not recognized by pc anymore and same loading problems as before... ps. i tried to change back but no luck,is there any way to restore to factory settings or can anybody point to a fix pls

ok left it alone for few days and thought i'd just spend 30 mins playing around with it before chucking it,so switched on with no micro sd comes on and green bar starts loading and stops at 20 % ... with card in info or licence screen and freezes...with card in and holding in power button and pressing bottom right of screen you get a message something like '' really delete personal data'' and yes / no option boxes but before you get a chance to press either it freezes again...tried it a few times and even managed to select yes a few times but keeps freezing so tried that last bit again this time with usb cable attached to pc and voila pc recognised it and from here i was able to use the javawa device manager to scan ,find and delete corrupted files ... so restarted nuvi and it went back to factory settings (with 2010 maps) so put the 2014 uk,ire,ice map that i previously had working before i got greedy on a micro sd .... its all working again with 2014 maps
