Vw engine 1.9tdi please take a look at this leaking exhaust recirculation valve.

I know there's no way to remove the round EGR cover and replace the membrane but did anyone do that?

it shouldnt be leaking, because its a dry area, just dark dust in there!
do you put some adictive?
maybe you have a piston segment leakage!
you must see the level of motor oil!
thats not normal at all

Hi! if the membrane is full of holes is normal. Have you checked whether the EGR it comes?
If the EGR is broken, do not try to repair only replace it with a used (a waste of time and nerves!)!

Found a 2010 discussion, very intersting:
TDIClub Forums - View Single Post - oil coming out of egr valve (http://forums.tdiclub.com/showpost.php?p=3141612&postcount=2)

The EGR has two small holes - one each side - through which the leaking oil will flow.
These two holes are not designed as weep holes, though they function that way.
The holes allow the air under the EGR diaphragm to remain at atmospheric pressure
as the EGR operates and the EGR diaphragm moves up and down.

Bottom line. It's only a cosmetic problem, not a functional problem, so you can safely ignore it.

If you must fix it, the only way is to replace the EGR valve as the EGR valve is not serviceable.

In my case the engine has no problem. I found the leak while doing an oil change.
For the moment I'll do nothing.
