The rf out may need enabling from the menu. Try connecting via hdmi or scart

I have plugged scart into the tv and when i power the box on and it states that its booting, the open source logo appears on screen, but then when the TM TWIN OE shows up on the screen on the box i cant then get the box to show any menu or anything at all on my tv screen,,,,does the box need to be connected to a sat dish or anything for the likes of the menu to show up on tv,,i wouldnt of thought so ,but im not a engineer..haha.does it need flashing or software replacing, because i have fitted a new power supply board to the inside,,was wondering if it has lost something when the power supply went pop.

Download the image you want, ie openvix, openpli, openatv etc it's your choice. Put the file on a usb stick then put into the rear usb port and basically follow on screen instructions

you download from the tm download center just add www. to this link and make sure
you use a image for your tm model, http://***.downloadtmsw.com/bbs/main.php
i have a tm twin and i find the 4D image very good image.
when you download the image you choose, open the zip folder there should be a folder named update. take it out and put it on your desktop, dont open this folder just send it to the usb stick, then
Stick the usb stick in the front on the machine in the usb slot next to the card slot. Turn the box off at the back and then turn on. The box should detect the stick and come up with a message on the screen saying update found and press ok. Press ok button on the box [not on the remote] and it will flash the image to the box, when done it will tell you its finished and then turn the box off at the back and then turn back on. I then personally keep pressing exit on the front of the box as it was supposed to do something about partitioning the drive but lots of people no longer do this. The box will then load the image you have choosen and start with the normal wizard screen that all other e2 boxes start with.

i really apreciate your info benny9,,thats the type of info i wanted as im a newbie with this receiver,,the last one i used was a tn 5400,,haha...but my main concern is how do i get this receiver to work after it goes through the booting, and then all i get is tm twin oe,on screen, the power buttons on receiver wont do anything and also the remote wont make it do anything,so is it the bootloader missing or something,,so in your opinion doing what you told me,will my receiver then work again....i do thank you for your help.

first try a new image and see if that clears the box
and then you need to set the menu's up and either
oad a channel list or scan the sats and channels
you will also need a dreambox edit and a DCC on your computer
to connect and communicate with your box

yes i use both the dreambox edit for sorting channels
and sending and uploading chn lists to and from the box
the DCC also works first class, what you need to understand
is that all makes and models of linux boxes work more or less the same
way, the menus and set up is basically the same on all makes of linux box

you could always try VUCC as well which is a much simpler version of DCC especially for newbies and has everything built in that you need to access the receiver: Vu Control Centre Version 0.8 - Downloads - Digital Kaos (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/other/8/vu-control-centre-version-0-8-3056/)

I am unsure if you can flash the TM linux receivers via Null Modem cable as you would need the relevant software to use with the cable, Generally a USB Pendrive is used to flash the receiver

************************************************** ****
the images are in usb form and they wont load via
a null modem cable that way requires the image in nfi format.
use a usb stick mate it's the best and easiest way
as for usb sticks i was in pc world near me and they have them on sale
SANDISK 8GB Cruzer Edge USB Memory Stick ?2.99

first i would use the tm download center for image updates etc
add t t to this link h**p://www.downloadtmsw.com/bbs/main.php
after you have flashed the image you will need to set the menu's up
for tv and set the tuner for usals and enter the long/lat settings for you
house, motor to find them you need a site like this one
Latitude and Longitude of a Point (http://itouchmap.com/latlong.html), next you need to scan the channels and satellites you set on your tuner setup, and as i said earlier you need to get a dreambox edit and the DCC [dreambox control center] set up on
your computer then you can load and transfer items to and from your tm twin
you can find these programmers to download free from a google, and both are
very easy user friendly. and apart from the image you cant load other items by usb
thats why you need these panels. also in this section i posted my chn list for multisat
for anouther member if you want to try it.

we need a bit more info mate on what you had done.
have you set the box menu's up?
and are you on a motorised or fixed dish?
have you set the tuner up for the satellites?
and do you have a channel list on the box?
even though you have flashed the image it
needs to be set correctly to work or it wont
find or even open the free to air channels

you could have a few dead transponders in your sat list
that could be why your getting the no sid/pat message,
surely there must be free to air channels that are open?
most linux box users load a xml file that put all the latest
live transponders in the box, i guess you have a disec motor
and if thats correct once you set the tuner up with your long lat settings
the dish will find all the satellites, plus most use a satellite/channel list
and dont need a satellite/chn scan to find the channels. this is why you need
to do a lot of reading and members help at first if your new to linux box receivers
as for your age thats nothing to do with it,lol loads of linux box users are a lot older
than you mate and we dont have problems. you just need loads of patients to get
the best from a linux receiver. these are not plug and play receivers,

the dcc is for transferring files to and from the computer and your sat box
the dreambox edit is to transfer the channel list to and from the box plus
you can create bouquets and set the channel list in your personnel order
as for cccams and opening scrambled channels without a official subscription
the rules dont allow any help info etc: to be posted on the forum for this try
google for this info. i'm sure there must be a tutorial on how to use the dcc
