Audi A3 8P 2003 dash dead any one any ideas ?

hi guys

2004 car sorry

my mate called me to his car tonight
the dash is totally dead and thus the car will not run

i had a play and occasionally the time display and the mileage display will light up momentarily then go off.
again the car will not start
no backlights no nothing even if i put sidelights on still no backlights

its the micronas dash with eeprom daughter-board on the back

ive had a poke about but cannot see anything out of the ordinary
i think i have the dash connector from my only tacho uiversal co can power it up on the bench to test.

my guy said he noticed a bit of condensation in the car the other day too
dunno if this would cause any problems

any help here greatly appreciated

could do with repairing otherwise its new dash and coding :)

i asked the obvious, he is straight as a dime, no one has plugged into the car to do anything lol

Checked all fuses? Had a similar problem with a golf 5 and dash had 2 fuses and one was removed ( slot was empty )

hmmm where are these fuses found please. or are they in diff places on the board ?
or if you mean the car fuses yes
all checked and ok
usually 2 x 5A fuses to control the dashboard

If turning sidelights on then suggests lost earth?

diez engine start?


10000 years ago Adolf would earth the clocks on the engine block, two earths.

other option get off eBay used set plug in see if lights up ?

the dash does not illuminate when i turn sidelights on
im thinking one of the V-reg has fluffed up on the daugtherboard

When you press the trip reset, does dash wake up?

You could read files from that dash,and save them.Then load up flash from another dash to see if it wakes up.
I can provide you with working flash...
If it wakes up,then you have found your problem.

What tool do you guys use to read/write fujitsu?

i powered the dash yes
but it does not wake up as it wakes up by the comfort module
when i power it up only the 2 lcd displays light up on the 2 main big dials. no other lights or the center LCD display lights.

i have no means of reading the fuji chips mate
i can read the 93c86 no probs

wondering how easy it would be to just code in a new set of clocks to the car
vcds ? providing i can read the pin from the donor dash via obd ? i have AVDI for this ??!?!

Oh just thought you will need the old pin and the new clicks pin, stalk lupu-Sandu something like.

vcds ch1 old pin, new pin, ignition off.

is it color dash or old?

you might need new transponder chip .

on a side note i sorted this

i reflowed the 2 processors on the daughter board and now the car works fine :)
