balti shite :puke: about right coming from brumington
CURRY houses could be banned from serving up 'balti' - unless they are in Birmingham.
The city wants to 'trademark' the name, claiming since the dish was invented there it needs the same protection as Wensleydale or Champagne.
It would mean Indian restaurants elsewhere having to call the spicy stews something else.
The city council, which is behind the move, insisted there was "merit" to any plan that benefited local people or firms.
Baltis were first created in the city's Sparkhill area in the 1970s.
