Greetings DK -

Many times I have tried to program transponder key (spare) for 2006-2010 VW New Beetle. Never one time have I had success.
Can someone with experience with these vehicles please chime in? I am turning them down weekly and my attempts at support
from KAP have been unsuccessful....we can never find the correct PIN.

I am using AVDI with VAG 23.0 and I believe I have all correct software because I can communicate with these cluster as an Audi
Magnetti Marelli. I can read dump of ECU too. I just cannot find the PIN and prepare the key.

Is there way to do these cars by OBD using AVDI?

I know TCode Pro has advertise can pull the PIN on these cars but again I never had success. If I can pull PIN with TCode then I think
all my problems is solved....any help at all is appreciated.

Compare dump from dash with dump from ecu then probably you find location of pin in dashboard.

Had a 2006 Beetle, only tool I have that would pull pin was x100+. Did not have a chance to see if pin was correct, because could not connect with x100+. Guy told me he had three people try, and nobody had even pulled a pin on it. I'd also be interested in what others are doing on American Beetle.

that is very interesting. i have an x100. from what i understand the AVDI can prepare and program the key no problem, it is just the PIN that is the issue. i never tried to use the x100 on these cars.

Even VW dealer struggles with these cars... I get calls often that they can't do it.

This is same dashboard as my cars(Seat Cordoba 6L).It is Magneti Marelli with 9S12H256.
It is impossible via OBD.For OBD reading, one trace on PCB needs to cut, then joined together once reading has finished.
There are many discussions will AVDI do it,I am assuring you it will not.Noone of the tools will do it.
Although dash is rare in my car,it is very common in New Beetle.
You have to take it out and do it manually.
If you have Effi,I can make a ready to start dump for you.
Also pincode reading,if you give me the dump.

I forgot to mention that there is only one part number of the dash that has that trace already disconnected, and it is possible via OBD,but I have never encountered it.

Funny enough that this dash could bring me the AVDI via bet,if guy didn't back out from a bet :D

Regards,
Sima

Like I said, this was an American Beetle- I'm not sure they are set up as S.A or Europe models. I told the guy to give me a call to see if the pin was right per dealer (that's where he was headed next), but he has not called.

I have done plenty of the beetles, all but 1 by OBD.
that all have magnetti Marelli clusters.
Try each MM option under Kline cluster but remember to turn key off and on after each attempt.
Compare the milage on the cluster to the milage in the dump.
Sometimes this can be out by 100km.

Not sure where the beetles were made though.

Love this info in here so far m8's - thanks a bunch. I know I am not the only one that has experienced issues with these cars. There are many questions on the AVDI forum but only one answer that resulted in a successful PIN and programming.

i believe big differences exist between usa and uk models .

ive found best results if using ad products is to search on mm5 cluster , but check all and has been said , switch off and back on between each attempt for best results.

on 4 digit pin systems watch for pins 1285 and 1348 , these 2 come out alot on ad and zedbull and are always wrong , ive pulled 1285 many times and always wrong .

ive been lucky to date and on models avdi has failed on ad has got it and vice versa .

Are you talking about 2006 and newer?- I've done a few 2005 and older with only a few problems.

Sure am. They are always tricky but doable.
From what I understand depending on where they are made, makes them harder or easier.
I may of been lucky and had the easy ones.

Just checked my records, latest I did was a 2006. Maybe it was MY2005 model.

The information I have for newer models is open ecu and read 93c76 manually.

My mistake, sorry.

All New Beetle from 1999 till 2011 are made in Mexico. From 2011 till present they are made in Vietnam.
