Can anyone tell me where is coolant temp sensor on this mini cooper, petrol engine?

Fan is always running and MIL on, faults for temp sensor stored.

There is thermostat housing on side of cylinder head, but with only 1 plug with 4 wires going into top of thermostat.

I looked everywhere else that I can get to but dont see any other sensor.

Any help would be fantastic!!

I done some more digging and find that it looks like a common fault and it is a recall, bmw fit a new top hose with temp sensor inside and a new loom to join to the old one, I will check with the dealers tomorrow and report back.

thanks for your help.

Errr weird for reference:

some asshole BMW drivers the "thermostat" is opened with electricity not coolant heat.

also, w@nking eu had one, shirt story was temp sender shit its nest, new one fitted, used our Swiss Army knife with OBD scanner on BMW, no faults, but temp gauge in red with cokd engine, selected eobd , hit read said "we won the war, historic temp sender". Hit erase cured

It is the same engine used on peugeot 3008, and it is a commum problem, peugeot has recalled many 3008s with same problem//.
