I'm thinking of installing some IP security cameras but at this moment in time the premises does not have broadband. I know some NVR's come with built in POE ports, up to 8 (thats how many I need). However, you can also buy NVR's with 1 LAN port which then connects to a seperate POE unit, my question is, if I did the latter, NVR with seperate POE unit, can I still view the cameras through VGA and HDMI or does the POE have to be plugged into the router in order to view the cctv? I'm not bothered about remote viewing for now. In this picture you see ip camera to POE, to the router then into the NVR. I want to use this same setup without the router for now, can it be done? 280011

Personally, id go look on a cctv forum.

I have no experience with them, but however, with a lan port connected to a network i think the signal should stream. Provided the access was setup correctly, ie useran pass
