Hi everyone I've been away from the forums for quite a while but was wondering if anyone can clarify if a white $ly card with entitlement can be used in a Technomate 5400 to view BT Sport?
If so how? I've got the serial number of the original $ly box it was paired to from out of it's menu but there's only 11 numbers some say it should be 12 others 10 I've tried putting the first 10 numbers and then the last 10 in the technomates card menu via the yellow button and powering off etc all to no avail.
Am I missing something here? BTW Sony LFC etc are all clearing just not my entitlements grrrrr.

Cheers Digicon long time no speak.:top:
So the info in an old thread on here regarding this query from about 2012 I think, no longer works then?
The latest info regarding watching BT Sport on a Technomate 5402HD via a legitimate white $ly viewing card that I've seen is from January this year on another forum. All said it can be done but the viewer would still need to put his/her card back into the $ly box it came out of from time to time to receive the stay alive signal.
The only reason I'm wanting to do this is because my father watches BT Sport on an old ex subscription Samsung $ly HD plus box that is struggling and lagging since the last EPG update despite me forcing software updates, system resets etc.
I'm reluctant to change the $ly box because (A) it means ringing $ly to pair the card to aanother box and (B) I could be in the same boat again if $ly decide to update the EPG again at some later date which they most certainly will and the replacement boxes hardware cannot cope with that change.
Can anyone recomend an STB that CAN update the entitlement on a white $ly viewing card?

You will need a Linux Receiver either an E1 machine like a DM500s but this loses the HD channels or a Linux Enigma2 receiver

Thanks for taking the time to reply Digicon.
Any recomendations on a cheap and cheerful receiver that will at least allow him to use his $ly card in it and isn't rocket science to patch etc?
Bear in mind he currently is only watching the BT Sport SD channels, has no broadband connection and refuses to get one so that side of life would only go to waste so has to be a factor regrding cost.

This may not be much help but I used a white freesat sly card in my Technomate 6800 Super, two years ago-ish.I didn't have to put the machine number in but I did have to put the card in it's sly receiver every 6 weeks to re-validate the card.

Any cheap E2 Linux receiver will do the job easily enough even a DM500s but this would limit him to SD only, Images for receivers that come fully configured/Updating can be found on the internet

@Markwi thanks for the reply. I am getting feedback from other sources that this method still works in a Technomate 5402HD albiet as Digicon has rightly pointed out that the Technomate 5402HD is unable to update the entitlements of the viewing card.
Basically I'm trying to save some dosh and save yet another STB from being used as a doorstop.
Whilst it's not a perfect solution I don't mind having to put the card back into the cranky old $ly box it was paired with every once in a while to update it's entitlements if it means my father can use his viewing card in his Technomate 5402HD without getting annoyed at how slow the box is responding. Which is what he is currently doing.
I think it would be better to ask if anyone can take the time to explain how this shall we say "used" to be done on a Technomate 5402HD and what patch they was running at the time either here or in Private Message if they like.
@Digicon thanks for the advice regarding an Enigma 2 Linux STB however as I've pointed out he has no internet connection so to me it would be like buying a Ferrari but only driving it around in 20 Mph zones so if push comes to shove I'll get an ex Amstrad $ly HD Box and get the card re paired to that instead.

I can only offer advice on what type of receiver is required to update the official entitlements and that is what my recommendation was based on.
Not everyone uses Ethernet as its most popular functionality is for Illegal purposes shall we say.
A secondhand DM500s with the right image would update the card give him autobouquets for 28.2? east and 7 day EPG for a layout of around ?40, May not be a Ferrari but its certainly the Porsche of the SD domain for the cost

As always I appreciate the advice Digicon and it is of course most welcome. :top:.
But I'm a thrifty bugger by nature so the purchase of a new STB would have to be justified even at ?40. The cons against buying a secondhand DM500s is he would be downgrading to SD and his Technomate 54002HD would then become another (In my opinon excellent) STB consigned to the attic.
As yet no one has answered if I can actually still use the $ly viewing card in the Technomate 5402HD if I'm prepared to keep having to put it back into the official $ly receiver it was paired with every now and again to keep it's entitlements updated?
If this is no longer possible (despite other sources saying it is still possible) then buying a cheap Amstrad ex subscription $ly HD box from either the car bootie or Fleabay for around a fiver is the best and cheapest option although it will obviously mean re pairing the viewing card to the Amstrad box.

You can still use the Official Subscription card in the 5402HD and it should open those channels the only thing it will not do is update the entitlements which as you already stated can be replaced back into the original receiver to update.
Not an ideal solution I know but thats the only workable one with your setup as it is now.
All the best

That's great news! Thanks for confirming that Digicon below is what I'm using and below that is what I'm doing to try to open the channels using my viewing card in my Technomate 5402HD please let me know if there is anything that I'm doing wrong or any steps that I'm missing which is maybe why the BT Sports channels won't open.
Receiver = Technomate 5402HD M2 CI Super +
Patch Version = 142p Dated 09/07/2014
Viewing Card = Active FSFS with BT Sport channel entitlements
I have noted down the serial number of the official $ly HD box which the card has been paired with and it looks something like this "0123456789 4"
I then go into the Technomates 5402HDs main menu and scroll down to "Smart Card".
Then scroll across to "Card+" and press "OK".
A screen with "NDS" appears and the cards 8 digit serial number.
I Press the "Yellow Button" and "NDSKEY Edit" appears with "FF FF FF FF FF" below it.
I've inputted the following numbers in decimal "0123456789" that are equivalent to my $ly box serial number ignoring the "4" on the end.
Then press "Exit ".
"All or part of the settings have changed do you want to save? Yes/No/Cancel" appears. Highlight "Yes" press "OK".
Then back out of the various menus until I get to BT Sport channel again which dosen't clear.
Anything I'm missing here anyone?
