I concur read ecu with carprog , cryptoworks , avdi etc etc or read tms370 from immo aerial and get pin from dump

i agree with everyone above. AVDI & carprog will read them by obd. But I think cheapest way out is a cheap TMS370 readr & read the immo unit & opcom to relearn the keys, thats how I used to do them before I got some more expensive equipment.

hope this helps:)

It will be pointless reading code from TMS370 if the ECU has been changed, carprog the only solution I can think off.

Not having used carprog or the likes before i would be at a disadvantage, but i wil look into it for future reference. customer is going to beg main dealer for another car pass. Good luck to him with only vin to go on.

if the car was running before the keys were lost reading the tms chip will work as it would have to be matched to run car previously

i think THE OP means the ecu kit was from another car so pin wont match vin ? please correct me if im wrong .. but if car was running but had an ecu swap it still needs tms in arial matched to ecu (decoder ) to run

so if it was running before keys were lost you will still get pin code from the immo box

As for pin from vin only, nil poi. Not even moderators can do it now

Had a look today at carprog, ordered and on its way. The car was running until keys lost. Some time ago ecu, dash and reader were replaced. So carpass was only good for key cutting.

unless your doing keys etc everyday wouldn't it have been easier to call someone else ;)

As I stated, the owner is trying to get a carpass from main agents using only the vin. The car has been parked up for 6months, so no rush.

carprog plugs into dlc and gets pin from ecu, no hassle. Op-com reads eeprom from cluster, also by OBD plug. Reading tms 370 from antena will give you the pin as well. Lots of choices....

If I were you I would just go to scrap yard and do exactly what the last person did, buy the full kit, being an old car the full kit will be around ?60 and save the hassle.
1 carprog ?40.00, Pass from dealer ?30.00, new keys ?30.00 total parts ?100. You will still have to buy ID40 chip and key programming tool…..cheaper to buy another car.http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif

Sj is right to a degree but if its a 1.6 ecu that's good then keep it that way.

I understand what you are saying here, but, its what the customer and friend wants! Who am I to argue?

Got my carprog last week and must say its not a bad bit of kit for the money. Extracted pin code from a zafira 1.8 2003 without any issues. I can keep that in the tool locker for future use. Have to wait a week to get back onto the astra as he,s taken a holiday. ok for some!

the opel gold software in conjunction with the old galleto interface never gave any results to me. the program starts, it fakes to read the memory but does not show any result. Ifanyone is interested in the soft, pm me.
