bottom of clocks leather shroud pull towards you from clips . then look to remove 2 torx ...then slip hand/or hook tool in and give a good yank to free

When you first attempt to pull off the thin plastic strip, note that the clips are on either end, so it may be a bit stiff.
When you see it off you will realise the best way to remove it in future.

The ECM May have crimped edges, so be careful opening it up.

If it's a convertible, choose undercover place as you need the hood half open to access the ECM

Oh, and don't leave finger marks on the tin cover in the cluster!

Fold rear seats down pull carpet up and remove metal plate, you.l see ecu , sharp Stanley knife and hair dryer to easy opening, pending on year if I rember there 2 different chips hours are stored and you roughly would divide hours by 35 to get mileage

Both the engine hours and transmission KMs are in there somewhere. (As are rev limits in each gear)

Remember on 997 onwards, ECM has metal tags bent over which need straightening before the Stanley knife hairdryer treatment.
Use plastic not metal tools to avoid scratches
