mini remote stopped working

my friend has a 2008 mini with only 1 dash key, but remote just stop working.

I checked signal and frequency and all ok.

Is there a re sync procedure for this type of key or will it need to have a new key programmed?

Don't be misled by frequency testing.
Been caught out a few times, with what appeared to be an OK remote, that turned out to be faulty, usually a weak signal.

check receiver unit cos if like other CAS BMWs the receiver unit (combined with radio)
gets water ingress n packs up.

But that's a guess. diagnostics may report fault.

typical dumb customer, fault was not remote, it was working perfect, but car not starting :)

Key was faulty, unable to read transponder, so made a pcf7936 with avdi, put it in side casing and we have another runner :)
