What do you recommend? The SBB is a good tool but coverage is starting to become an issue..... x100? skp900? ck100?

i have all the above and more, still not sufficient to cover all cars
x100 will be the first choice but very bad for toyota
other two........................:puke:

thank you gwee, yes i understand that there's not one tool that does all, i just fancy a new tool that will add a bit more coverage. Will the x100 pull pins?

as much as i hate to say it , if its pin reading you want and coverage , then nothing beats the keyprom8 from china , especially as most pin reading and remote coding is token free as with the unit they ruthlessly copied , token based for programming but cheap tokens , it costs more than the units mentioned but is also superior on what it covers because of what its a copy of , all the guys ive met with this unit succeed with it and rate it .
if clones are your thing then keyprom8 , x100 , skp100 for landrover are all worth having , but if budget allows then many original kit options also exist and because of the beer money brigade killing rates theres more and more cheap original kit to be found on the 2nd hand market these days , almost every forum with a buy and sell area has some diag kit or the other for sale .
for pin reading the better options depend on what pins you want to pull most of , plenty of good add on tools from china for pins , the ncp100 nissan pin reader works with most machines that read bcm or pull 20 digit code , the ford incode calc works with many machines , the vpc100 will give you older hyundai and kia pins from vin , so which machine is best on pin reading is largely down to what pins you want to pull .
keyprom8 from what ive seen knocks spots off x100 and skp900 etc for most pin reading on euro makes but is more expensive and is token based and is a direct rip off of an original kit unlike x100 etc .

It's mad to think what you can now buy a keypro m8, a Condor and a dozen 3in1 lishi's for..... I would like vag, vauxhall and PSA pin codes ideally....

I think I will go for the x100 and skp100 to compliment the SBB for now.... Then when the tax return lands, a key pro m8 and a condor :D

with psa be careful as even original kits run into problems on some can vehicles when trying to pull pin , abrites has by far the best psa pin coverage , though still plenty of missing coverage for pins even with abrites especially on older stuff, but the abrites software for psa is by far my first choice software on these .
vauxhall opel again abrites has the widest coverage especially on older astra G , zafiera A and newer models , zedbull with b lead runs second then original mvp pro zedbull better on astra g but mvp pro better on more modern models , the keyprom8 is limited to what mvp covered when copied. with vauxhall x100 and skp900 are limited on pin reading capability , really good vauxhall pin reading requires good kit at present .
VAG many options exist for , abrites again leads field along with original mvp pro , these have the widest pin read capability and are most reliable , though the cheap vag pin reader from china has bailed me out when these couldnt get pin , mostly on old 1998/1999 MY audi A3 . again i suspect x100 and skp900 will give you more than sbb clone , but still limited , even keyprom8 is now years behind mvp pro on vag pin reading . the cheap vag pin reader is as good .
plenty of 2nd hand original mvp pro for sale around the forums , most pin reading and most remote coding is free and doesnt use tokens , the few pins that require tokens are a swine but you get warning before using token , plus still often cheaper than buying code and certainly quicker , the unit will pay for itself just on the pins you pull and remotes you program , you then use your token saving kit to code the keys once pin is pulled.
by the time you buy various clones , the cost will exceed what you pay for a 2nd hand mvp pro , and with one you get updates , new softwares and is kept up to date .
mvp pro may be expensive with the token costs , but can also pay its way token free too , just depends what other kit you have to need what it can do free with pin reads and remotes.
most lockies will have an mvp pro on back of van for emergencies and odd jobs that theres no value in buying software for.

im comteplating buying the key pro m8 but the 50 token one as I would not use 50 tokens quickly
but I would slowly get an idea on what it does
im pretty sure the units are all the same with same options but u just pay extra for the tokens???

keyprom8 from what ive seen is a copy of mvp pro on a version from around 2 years ago , so has everything on it working that mvp pro had 2 years ago , so most of what it has now without the latest vag software and latest ford software , so should be great with most up to 2010 though forget vag precode and ford 2010 onwards as wont be covered on it .
though a 2nd hand original machine may cost a little more but has the new vag and new ford on it and will be updated fully for not much more than the clone and will be up to date for years to come

theres been 2 or 3 on shoe repairer forum this past month as well as a well loaded ad100 pro .
tokens are only used on some pin code reading , certain vag and certain vectra c etc , odd ones that they deem too complex to be free , mostly ones others cant do charge a token. there is no list of which take a token other than ad iq system , this tells you if it takes a token for pin or not .
i look on forums daily as have a couple of mates looking for an RW4 with p box and snoop and a jma trs5000 evo , so look most days .
if doing 20 cars a month or mo then its worth considering the monthly unlimited token fee , i think about ?200 a month for unlimited token free use .

I must say Mvp/AD100pro is an awesom bit of kit .
And quite rightly as Rapid has said the MVP has all coverage so it a fair tool to have .
Tokens are a bit of a downer but a friend of mine has MVP and i have Ad100pro so what mine dosent cover his does and if he has jobs that are bread and butter i do it with my pro (Saves token and gives a bit more profit to job).
It is a serious investment but i must say i did struggle with a few other tools but i now know what the AD100pro does and is first option off the van .
You need different tools but to cut down the odd,s and chances of jobs that will come up it has to be Euro on the ad100pro.
or MVP pro.
Just my 2 cents HTH.

I use AD100pro on renaults very quick indeed (Same as MVP but no tokens).

I only want one for very small coverage that I dont have with current tools, hence have never considered a new one, nor would I buy a clone one as being 2 years out of date, it would not have what I need it for :)

ps - going to have to sign up for shoe repair thingy

what is the price for a genuine ad100 pro
and can it retrieve security codes from astras and gm stuff
thanks
rapidlocksmiths
5th December, 2014, 12:43 PM
depends on astra and gm stuff you want to pull pins from , if astra G and Zafiera A its very limited , zedbull and B lead has wider pin code read on these older cars and abrites avdi with opel software has almost full coverage on these , mvp pro has good coverage on can models astra H vectra c zafiera b etc , but still not up to avdi coverage .
avdi with opel software would cost you about 2k
ad100 pro with full vauxhall is available from hickleys at about ?1300 for 1 manufacturer at shows
zedbull with obd B opel lead about ?1500

my friend was looking at avdi
there are so many addons
he does diagnosing efi problems and some keys day in day out
I do more engine conversion wiring and abit of keys here and there
so its not worth it for me yet but ill tell him to get avdi and slowly add packages to it

also between three of us we know some guys at holden so we can get the security codes
but one day these guys might not work there and we have also had problems where the code
from the dealer is wrong due to it being entered wrong from factory
my friend had to get another guy it to get a code from an astra and this guy charged 165 dollars to
come out and get pin out as not many people in that area can do it
I think my friend will look more into avdi
I might send them an email to see if they can get codes from some holden and gm cars

I bought an m8 about 5 months ago, only used it 20-30 times (according to to my token use) its already pay for itself. I have had a problem with dongle B, Unit will not power up when connected (this happened on a nissan 2009 patrol id46)
