If the blue button option is not working You will need to FTP to your dreambox m8, get the ip addy from the boxes settings page set up flash-fxp (or your own ftp proggy) then send over the relavent cams/key* and that should sort it.

scrap that.. i got it working.. forgot to set evocamd as the default cam..

all seems to be working.. yipeeeeeeeee...

another quick question though.. is there anyway to sort the arrangements of the channels somehow.. they all seemed jumbled up..

also do i need to save the settings somewhere as i turned the box off and lost all the channels..

also (last one i promise) where do i put the picon folder..

Use dreamboxedit (available in the downloads section). Download channels to your pc, sort them and then load them back to you dreambox

Did you chmod the attributes on keylist.txt to 755

also (last one i promise) where do i put the picon folder..

I think this depends on the image. Try searching for a directory with picon in the name.

Out of interest, what image are you using?

many thanks for your reply..

i tried dreamboxedit.. seems like a great programme to use.. however the changes i make on dreamboxedit dont seem to save.. any ideas.. are there any attributes that i need to change on the dreambox..

which leaves me to chmoding the file.. where is the keylist.txt file located..

im using a pli image.. is there any others which are better than this.. it seems pretty decent..

To use dreamboxedit:-
1) Open the options button (also under tools menu), select the profile tab & then type in the IP address of your dreambox & save
2) Create a directory on your pc to store the services and bouquets.
3) Click on the FTP button (also under file menu)
4) Change the "local directory" to the one you just created on your pc
5) Now click on "receive files from dreambox" button
6) Close FTP menu
7) Create bouquets (in the right box) e.g. Terrestial, Satellite, Sports, etc.
8) Now select a bouquet in the right box that you want to add some channels to
9) Drag channels from the left box to the middle box. You can re-order, re-name the channels, etc.
10) When finished, click File / Save - the files are now saved on your pc (but not on your dreambox).
11) Go back into the FTP directory and click on "Send files to dreambox"
12) You now need to click on "Reload settings" button (or simply re-start your dreambox)

keylist.txt is in var/keys - it needs execute permission. Check the chmod attribute - it should be 755 (mine is actually 750, but it still works).

I use a Pli Lolite. The image is very good, but it doesn't have teletext so I'm thinking of changing to something else. Problem is that there aren't many DM600 images out there.

That's a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack. But if you ask a specific question, you'll get help from someone.

keylist.txt is not used for saving channel info. It is used by one/some of the emu's but I can't remember which at this time in the morning.

Faddy "lost all the channels" - I think he meant they weren't clearing when he turned on his box. Keylist.txt is used by evocamd to save the key info that's needed when the box is started.

However if Faddy has to do a complete transponder re-scan to set up all the channels every time, then that's a different problem. This would be unusual - I've never come across it in any of the posts.

If you bring up the channel epg than press the green button you can record automatically. Saves having to type in the start and end end times in the timer recording.

the hdd recordings are stored in the hdd/movie directory.

The files are stored in a transport stream format (*.ts). To play back on a pc use VLC VLC media player - Overview (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)

To save to a dvd use DVR Studio Pro from http://www.haenlein-software.com. You can download a 30 day trial. Alternatively use DVR Studio (not the pro version) and your own DVD authoring software.

Unfortunately I don't know of any free alternatives to DVR Studio Pro......

the way i put recordings to dvd is to demux the .ts file.
this splits the audio from the video i use project x its free here (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=115063)
then i use ifoedit to author the audio and video to dvd format. this is also free.
the result is a perfect dvd with the same quality as the recording you started with.
if you use any other sort of encoding software you lose quality and it takes ages to encode the files too.
off the top of my head it takes less than 5 mins to demux an hours worth of recording and 5 mins to author the demuxed files to dvd format. :)
