If it?s a polo 9n I first would try with vcds, because it should be immo 3. Just go into ecu, login with pin of ecu, adaption ch. 50, new value login of instrument cluster. When show vin from instrument, then save. You are done.
The same procedure you can try with avdi in normal diagnostic mode, not special function. If you can read eeprom from instrument cluster, I could adapt it into ecu dump.

Hi Rapturerready - I have an Audi A3 '06 dash to code. will share info as we can help each other out :)
its all to do with adaption so as previous comment u can use vcdi or just use rosstech website and avdi adaption once select system.
just use rosstech website n be ok :)
i've got all the CS crap to deal with :D

Weird, what stolen with keys or no keys?
can you edit the pin in ecu to that of currant pin, then try recode keys

if its a simos ecu then just post eeprom dump and immo off will be yours!

just another thing , I read the cluster eeprom with avdi and got pin and correct mileage , the cluster said error after read so I reset ecu, I was a bit worried cause its a brand new ecu that was fitted and was not adapted yet, but reset ecu worked and dash came back to normal, it was a four digit pin and I put a 0 in front when I went to channel 50 and avdi didn't like it so just entered the 4 digits and then correct vin came up so all good, saved it and then turned ignition off for a few minutes and then I coded the keys in , remotes wouldn't code as the guys that stole car and ecu took out the fuse , so replaced fuse and coded remotes with avdi, all good, thanks for the help everyone, learnt something today again, all the best and a merry Christmas to you all :) (javascript:void(0))

im not sure meaty, but the guys fixing the car said the steering wheel was bent badly from them trying to snap steering lock, and door lock was damaged, and ecu was missing when the car was found, they had 1 original key from car and 1 ordered from dealer, funny thing was the original key the immo light went out when turning ignition and the new key from dealer immo light flashed, thought that was strange as it had a new ecu in that was not adapted yet, but old key data was still in the cluster I suppose but was not responding to ecu, anyway all good , regards

Sounds like pikey nicked car by brute force and towing, then took ecu off, often sheer bolted on. Always nice to know, unless had ecu fault and owner did it.

you could be right on both aspects as that ecu cost close to 1000 pounds, it was a polo gti, the guy showed me the invoice while I was practising on the car then I got this sick feeling that I should not push anymore buttons on my laptop till I get advice from the worlds best ,right here on dk :) and so I did and it all worked out good :)

One last go and you kill it! Then the bloke mentions somebody in the pub said remove the indicator lights. This makes you think of Vic the pub singer

If you type Vic pub singer in google images Vic comes up
