Yes, pin 1 indication is not there in the picture, but you can clearly see how to place the adapter! Use this information + your brain and go back one page.
You will find the answer.

If you make a search about Motorola BDM you will find info about how the pads are arranged, and also how you can determind pad 1.
On these, pad 3 and 5 are always connected to ground, just a hint.

The issue is not the use of the brain, because I use it every day at maximum, is to ask help and ensure that will not damage something is free "not paid anything,"
But as thou don't know exactly what is the pin#1, you say things,
have you to know how to respect people and leave blank, as i do to the questions that i not know how to help DK comrades.

More help here: winIDEA Help (http://www.isystem.com/downloads/winIDEA/help/index.html?TheBDMconnector.html)
You will need a multimeter to measure and find which is number 3 and 5, (you measure from ground connection on ECU pins), then number1 explain itself.

FGTech_BDM_MC32xxx_User_Manual.pdf
Page 13 shows how to place the Siemens/Marelli BDM head on MSS52.
Page 12 shows how to place the very same Siemens/Marelli BDM head on a Trionic 8 + BDM pad 1 indication.
Page 7 shows how to find pin1
So looks like you are not using it at maximum. Just by reading the manual you could solve your issue easily.

Hi friends
Thank you all for suggestions and support in reading the Flash BMW M3 with FGtech by BDM
With help each other we will go far, no one has more brain than the other, the difference is in the experience and the humility to help another without offending
Cheers
