anyone with some working knowledge on the above . ime thinking of buying one but i cannot make up my mind ..any help appreciated . also any good links for a de solder station too ..

I am using the GQ-3X for eeprom etc..and successful

tafor that . i want to use the reader in an automotive caacity .also no jumpers looks like a brilliant help
just one question . what other leads and connectors will i need .to start with ..and make that two can you recommend a solderde slder station ? thanks again

It depends on what you want to spend...ANd what you want to read with it...Desolder Stations Run from About a hundred quid (GB.pounds).to Two or three grand ...If you Are you only reading DIP and SOIC eeproms..then you will need a socket adapter ... as most programmers are Dual Inline Package (DIP)...30/40/48 pin.....
Just Google it mate...there are too many to list..

cheers for the tip . i found a reader from mca mall canada ..eeprom reader and desolder station plus adapters on their way
all for 260 with postage .. is that good or bad ?
