I have a K12 micra here with intermittent power steering problems.
Codes C1606 and C1608 recordered. The immo light comes on when driving after 10 mins but not directly related to steering fault. Steering continued to work then fails within few days.
The original p/s unit seems to be a replacement as is missing trw labels but has another label with "mirca virgin eps column" so I assume was from some repair company. Can see soldering was done inside and 24c16 had been removed previously

292266
So I got replacement P/S unit from breakers who assure me unit is good. I swop 24C16 and install and problem is still there.

I am now thinking eeprom is the problem. Could someone take a look at this dump and advise is it corrupt.
I guess I really need to repair this dump if file is not ok
Really appreciate help got angry customer who keeps ringing.

Agree. Grab a Mandella Candle for 2 porpouse: in honor to Nelson and becuase it's Christmas.

When there's no PS, stop the car 0 km/h or 0 m/h and turn off ignition key.
Then restart engine and see if PS is working again.

Can you report brand of PS?

Steering is made by TRW. Been searching and apparently 24C16 can be the problem. System is similar to Renault modus and clio but not the same. If I knew where immo data was in dump could use file from another micra to repair. Maybe someone knows where Immo info is in eeprom ?
With original steering module restart does not work but clear codes and works day or two. When the fault codes 1606 & 1608 are set relay in p/s don't fire and unit is not trying to work.

I have swapped many of these with used units all I have done is swap eeprom from old to new and all works . I would be suspect of the used unit . regards scoot

Swapping the eprom solves the problem 50% of times! There must be something else faulty in these steering modules.....
