Hopefully this is an easy fix ( I think it is but just cant figure it out )

I bought 2 skyboxes in the summer and use one all the time and the other has just sat there doing nothing . I gave it to my father for xmas and tested it in my house before I gave him it and it worked great . I got him a new line too and tested it and it worked fine . NOW when I connect the box to the internet in his house it wont connect even though im doing everything right . Is there maybe a setting that's been made at my house that's clashing with the internet at his house ??? ( IP address clash maybe ? )

thx for looking .

Couple of things you could try;
1. Switch off the rooter and box, switch on rooter when up and running you switch the box on.
2. Could be a DHCP problem, menu - select Network - Network Setup' and turn DHCP 'off' if its on and vice versa

Thx MArtin . Ive tried the router and box reset but nothing changes . I think it has something to do with the internet settings/DHCP but cant figure it out .

go into the routers internal settings and turn any firewall/security off, somehow most of the isps have the security up to high in the router nowadays

So how have you left DHCP? I have never had any problems by leaving it set to ON.

Some routers use 192.168.0.xxx & some use 192.168.1.xxx If you selected a fixed IP for your Father's box while it was at your house & his router uses a different address to yours, then that will cause problems. With DHCP set to ON, it should find the right address though.

Hi thx for all your help . Tried it again tonight after checking everything works in my house . Set it up in my dads house and still the same . So decide its the router stopping access so go through every setting and its fine . Even phone the wife up and have her check each thing in my settings on my router with everything on his router . Everythings the same . Then do a check for check with his box and my box . Everything my wife said matched this box so its the setting on my dads box I guessed . Reset everything on the box and matched everything in my house and still nothing . For some reason I decide to check the Ethernet port . Everythings fine . I give the cable a shake and still nothing . I then push the cable end that plugs into the box down a bit and the lights light up ! ! ! . I let it go and they go off . I push the plug down and it comes on . Ends up the Ethernet port might be faulty . Bring it home to my house and it works straight away LOL . Im just gonna swutch boxes with him for an easy life .

Hopefully you understood what I wrote and thx for your help .

Did you also try your Father's ethernet cable at your house, or just the box?

It might be his ethernet cable that's faulty.
