I have an abs ligh on the dash on a 2007 mini r56 the code showing is 5de3..... the cas,ecu and key were replaced with a used 'set' also the dash has been set to 0miles for some reason..... so is the light on due to the vin being different in the abs unit to the others? or is it due to incorrect mileage?

I have avdi with the bmw add on can i change the vin in the ecu ans cas via obd ?

I have genuine avdi with the bmw add on if i can change the vin to match then i think it should work. but iv never used my avdi and the car isnt close to me

I have done this before again. I changed the vin in the CAS and all was good. You can use avdi or Tool32 to change the vin, but you may need WinKFP too.

reprogram dsc with winkfp using vin from cas

reprogram dsc with winkfp using vin from cas
But it will not match with the steering angle sensot and cluster then. Changing the vin in the CAS will solve the initial problem without creating new ones.

Hi guys,

sorry for pulling up old thread, but i have similar situation,

so its R56,
DME died, and new DME was installed, ISN was written in CAS, car runs and drives,
ABS light is on, and there is encoding error in DSC module,
I've flashed using WinKFP CAS and DSC with the VIN from DME, but still can not code DSC module in NCSexpert,
there is "module not responding" error,

so im missing something and i dont get it, looks like there is something else i need change VIN for? is that "steering angle sensor" its SZL if im not mistaken,

or there something else i need to do?

thanks!
Levan

Hello, how are you? Did you all solve the trouble? I have the same fault code, but i took the car as it is and i dont know if they replaced either CAS or DSC module or sometning else. It is a Mini Cooper S cabrio, I have tried to code it with winKFP but into the data base I have theres no match for the DSC part number, Which is 6790382, and if i try to change at least the vin number of it with another random similar part number it displays an error. I have tried to code it with FVDI but theres a lot of options I could select or unselect and always says that there is inconsitency on the selected data. Could any of you help me please?
I attach some pics for more info. Thanks in advance

VIN and coding in DSC can be changed without problem. NCS Expert or ISTA-P work fine (I use it all the time), Autologic, Abrites, Autohex etc. should also be able to do the job. Just load the default coding. I guess the VIN in DME, CAS, and KOMBI should be identical, but I have never tried coding an ABS on a non-matching car.

What you can't do is replace a DSC unit with a different type of module (e.g. ASC or ABS). Also the other way around does not work, the DSC unit will simply not accept the coding for an ASC or ABS unit.
So the Vehicle Order should match with whatever is written on the ABS unit, and obviously it should match the sensors that are installed (DSC needs steering angle sensor and gyroscope, ASC and ABS don't need any sensors afaik)
Since 2010 all Mini's have DSC so an ABS or ASC unit is hard to find these days.

Hi
DSC is the only thing changed. It was changed for s/h same part no unit.
Vin mismatch is only fault i am left with now that i am struggling with. battery support is on all the time when working on it.
I will give it another try on monday incase am missing some thing.
Thanks

I think there is also a code VIN option in NCS Expert (FG_SCHREIBEN or something like that), it's not the same as the VIN in WinKFP.

autel does this in seconds and is very straight forward. Do you have any one near you with it? if your close i can do this for you
