Can anybody help me with first 2 digits please

still working this one out obviously I am wrong
after xor I get 5a
if I get rid of msb 5 I am left with (a)
a=10 so either invert and minus 1 or
(a) minus 10
to get 00
either a mistake in my calculation or a stage I don't know about
any advice cheers
