Ok, Someone released a piece of software that streams your dreambox! Since it has been working for some users, and not others there is alot of controversy... I am about to sare with you all, a method i have been using for about 2 years and it has never let me down! May require abit of labour though ;)

So - before we start, I use the latest PLI image, so this guide is written for that. Other images will varey slightly i.e. ports for streaming, but the jist is the same!

If you are using a router, and don't have a static IP, get yourself a domain setup.
Ports to forward on your router to your PC that will be running VLC -> 8080
Ports to forward on your router to your Dreambox IP -> 80 (and possibly 21 - not essential, only for FTP)

Open vlc player -> open network stream -> select HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/MMS -> enter http://IP.of.Dreambox:31344 (http://ip.of.dreambox:31344/) (note this is the port for the PLI images)

Tick "Stream/Save" and go to settings -> tick HTTP and type in the IP address of the PC that will be running VLC and the port (8080)

Choose your stream settings (these will depend on available bandwith) and click select all elemntary streams. My setup is TS Encapsulation - Video codec x264 at 512 kb/s - Audio MP3 64 kb/s 1 channel

On your other system/handheld or whatever, open network stream in VLC or any other decent player and enter your domain/static IP:8080 (or port that you setup on your router for your PC)

Now your VLC will stream your dreambox channel. If you change the channel remotely through enigma, the stream will also change channel... far better than only being able to watch one channel that you have chosen from dream stream.

to change channel, just ener you domain/staic IP in a browser, and you will be faced with the enigma page!

WOW!!!

Again, the method definatley works but everyones pc's are different, codecs are different, routers are different, internet speeds are different..... if it doesn't work change your settings to suit, and manually tweek until it works.
Too many variables i know, but worth the effort as once it works, it works!!!

Enjoy

Thanks for yur private message... it does not work properly....
I found another guide with Using ORB and mediaplayer play at 328kbps easily with webinterface nothing to set or very little....
At Lats i managed to stream my dm500-s in an easy way at acceptable speed of 328kbps...

Thanks anyway!
You should stae what VLC do u use as with 1.0.0 your instructions do not match!

The guide was written pre VLC - 1.0!

I do not use vlc 1.0 but I doubt the interface has changed so much that you cant use the guide for a general idea. Principle is still the same!

The program that is floating around here uses this exact method, but incorporates it into a program for streaming!

With this method you can have freedom over which codecs and ports you use for streaming, and is also easier to fine tune if streams are not quiet working!

Like I said, every PC/Network setup is different, whilst it may work for some, others may find a different method of streaming!
