If you're working with auto electronics you'll need it anyway.

They are the Original ..and the best programmers...Although a bit pricey... they do work ..I have all off them...

Another great little (but perfecty formed ) programmer is the UPA/USB from Elrasoft ...covers a load of MCU's and eeproms
Very easy to use...GOOGLE it...

Xprog by all accounts will not read it... and If locked (which it is ) UPA will have difficulty... ETL's 908 programmer is the best option .. (auomaticly finds security sequence)

hi all... I have been using a programmer from AR Labs. It does everything you need in the way of automotive. It uses adapters for the various chips. The owner provides great tech support. I don't know if it unlocks the 68hc08 (we don't do the 08 series chips hardly any cars here in the U.S. use them) but they do provide an adapter for it & there is documentation on the web site about it. They have great prices too

AR Labs Looks as if It will do a lot off eeprom stuff... But not a lot of MCU's...In europe most of the Automotive industry Use MCU's... Also eprom eeprom and tssop's.. If you want to Read A 908 ..912 9s12...ect ...then the bset and safest option is to plump for ETL's (original) programmers ...the downside is they aint cheap...but if you count the cost of replacing ... a Gubbed Cluster ..Not that expensive in the long run...

Are there any in circuit progammers that can deal with security bits? I have upa, but i know they are no good for this. And also im thinking of getting ETL. Which of there separate programmers would i need to cover all security mcu's Cheers

You would get by with the 908az60..And the 9s12 ..there are hc05/hc11..and of course NEC... it depends how deep you want to go mate...

Well,

I do have a clone of ver 4.5 and altough there is a SS displayed but there is no way to change it to what you want ( it shows FFFFFFFF-FFFFFFFF).
It's a shame really. Even if you know the bytes you still can do anything... Unless there is a way to put the SS in for a reading eeprom.....
