BMW E46 320D AUTO 1999

Hi..went to correct the km on this car 320d auto left hand drive tried reading eeprom b59 as c66 no read..
put all back in car CODE in dash display clock motors make a racket..car cranks does not fire..
i think eeprom is erased..is immo in clock on this version as later ones start without clock.
any one shed some light...thanks.

Immo is not on clustet.. did u took off the eeprom?? ?make sure you put back correctly those cluster have two openings to weld and there are confusing

i think that was my mistake....after no read i replaced eeprom back on right side pads and had CODE in display,
i removed and put on the left pads but same result..CODE in display..
removed clock from car tried starting but still no fire only crank..

Take off the odometer, without too should start up. next chip is a place for similar chips, do not mix up? see just above in the photo.

This dash can be done by diag...

if engine crank EWS+key (immo) is ok. This car work without IKE, this isn't your problem... Check you DTC and RPM signal in engine ecu, fuel, controller vp44? Synchro ews-dme?

the ike works like a gateway , u need to get the cluster working , then input the ori chassis number , use the radio to input the code 00000 .

had some diag on it today ..without cluster installed trying to source one..
found many 2003 but dont think this would work as it has 35080..
in engine i found can bus fault also electronic immobilization system.
tried resync ews with dme with x431 showing up error with ews.
could no communicate with ews...
possible ike missing not talking to ews?

please can you elaborate using radio to input code 00000 ???
this code is for what?

you need the cluster working to get communication with ews , and the car have also an alarm u can input a code to disable start .

solved..
the eep was soldered to wrong pad...correct pad in pic..
this particular model does not start without the ike in the car ..

car was from abroad funny plates..and had the facelift kit so looked like 2002+
i went in to it looking for 35080..
once stripped found b59 ,had a go reading didnt get right value soldered back to the correct pad 1st time to go for obd (soldering error)
once in car code..no start ..automatically convinced wrong pad .with reference from tacho soft pic.
2nd pad same isssue
confusing was car should start without clock..so been messing with diag..
by chance at home this morning swapped eep back to first pad and powered on bench all working..
thanks with your help cj now and many other members will have learned that not all e46 start without cluster......

ps.. still didnt understand (code 00000 with radio) was this to disable alarm?

when the alarm lost comm with the ews and cluster , it ask for the code , a lot of bmw have that feature , you can input via the touch screen on older model with a pad next to radio .

i had a tread about how to reset the code with pasoft if you input a code and forgot .

ill find some more info abou it for u .
