Perhaps I am a lucky guy, but never had problems with it.
Must say that I always check in forum the mask (this were I am working), if it seems dangerous simply abort.
I think with caution and Knowing what are you doing all tools could be "safe".
But risk is always there, I think even with original...

Just wondering. Could any of the problems with the R270 discussed here be undisclosed operator error, or is it always the R270 that is at fault? I have been carefully using one for quite a while now without a problem with any device and mine was the cheapest I could get, in a blue plastic case. Arthur.

As I Know sometimes there are bugs that makes all eeprom is erased when cannot read ok.
This is the problem ( when cannot read) and sometimes eeprom is erased, and you have not backup.
I think there are some Masks that are very sure to work, and other ones that requires I bit more .
I supose Operator takes all the cautions before, when it fails I think it is device problem. This Job is risky.
Sure there are people with original that have had problems.
I must also say people say RED VERSION is better than BLUE VERSION.
There are hardware differences, or perhaps is better cloned.
Mine is blue one, at this moment have not any problem ( I dont use every day).

I am talking about the r270 not the Rosfar R260 (which I have an original). Arthur.
Further to this, To date, I have had only 1 problem using my Rosfar 260 and that was operator error (my fault). Using my R270, to date I have had 100% success. Yet this forum is full of need flash, need eeprom. I don't believe I am lucky, I think it more a case of being very careful, extremly careful . In fact in all the time I have been working with memory devices, the only problems I have had have been because of errors on my part. Arthur.

i agree 100%, in every case where something bad happened it was always the human factor...

Not always try using diagprog 3 on w221 s class

diagtech, I don't and wouldn't go near any Merc with an NEC EZS or BMWs with cas 4 or FEM units. I have never used a can blocker and never just flashed a dash only, on earlier Mercs. I will only do Renaults with ABS if the customer brings me the dash and ABS removed from the car. The W221 came out in 2005 and now 10 years later the EZS still cannot be done. But if you are prepared to use a cock up method for whatever reason, money, brownie points, customer is a friend etc. then prepare yourself for possible headaches with that kind of job. Personally I dislke headaches and have no need to possibly give myself one. I have no problems telling the customer that I don't do them whatever the circumstances. You see, it is not my fault if the customer has driven too many mies in his W221 and want's a cock up mileage job doing on it. Arthur.
