I had a problem today with a 2006 golf 5 dash I was trying to learn a key to & was hoping someone could shed some light on what I did wrong. I was trying to learn a key with my AVDI(original), I used the learn keys function like I thought I usually do, it didn't work & at the end of it the car was starting & the immo light was flashing. So I went into the 'instruments can' button & read all the data in there. I tried to add a key in here too & got all confused & cant remember exactly what happened here(ive been playing all day & its all melded into a blur) but when I was finished the immo light doesnt come on at all & I cant start the car with the original key or my new key. My dash is a micronas dash & I can still read the immo data in the avdi instrument can section. at one point all the serial number changed to hash & I edited it back to the original numbers that I got from the engine ecu.

Ive been told I have corrupted the dash, but I dont know how I did this & am confused cos it still seems to be working when I go into the instrument part of avdi. I tried adding another key & it seems to store in the data & when I re-read it, its still there, bt car still wont start & immo light is off. when I go into key learning it no longer IDs the dash like it was in the beginning either

Ive had to admit defeat & send it to a dealer because my customer was very pissed off, but I'd at least like to learn something from this........

and how does everyone else do thses keys? do you use the learn keys function or the instrument can function?

If you still have car ,
Please go to CAN Instruments then read and Post Immo data file here ( Small file ) and eeprom from ECU and original and new Key ID,
let me see what is happening .

I use X-Dash and never had problem, but also you need to know what and how to do, Tool is not only thing you need to have, # 1 is Brain

Simos 7.1A Synchronization Utility
http://codecard.lt/small-soft/simos-7-1a-synchronization-utility/prod_2056.html

Not by any chance 1.6 102hp petrol engine? If so. This could help you.
If you got the pin. And transponder is precoded with CS. VCDS can also be a good solution. If other products make a problem.

Out of interest
was immo light flashing in first place
has it had immo off?
maybe this had deeper issue

I dont still have the car. But I did do some reads in dash can. When I first started having troubles, I noticed in the dash can screen, that the serial number had changed to jumbled letters, I edited this to match the serial from the ECU. I also matched the kleys in here, but no good.

Yes, the immo light was working normally when I first tried. Then after I tried learning through the learn keys function it was flashing even when the car would start. & after I had a play it didnt come on at all

Im going to laugh at this post...because I intentionally corrupt the Dash in Golf Mk5s that I fail to program then do an Immo Off on the ECU...This way the Immo Light goes off and ignorant customers are more than happy to see all keys I make for them working "perfectly".

Very unprofessional but...when push comes to shove...A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

I was going to do an Immo off but chickened out because I didn't want to take the risk and was in deep enough already

You should have just gone ahead with it...having gone that far you really had nothing to lose...like I said, if an Mk5 is gonna want to make me sweat blood im gonna show it its mother without a doubt...nice one mate. :guns::guns::guns:

Yugo, Id really love to and appreciate your help, but the car left that day & I cant get them. I did have a look and the keys were in the key data section & the CS, serial and vin were correct
