View Full Version : Problem with Injector Codes on MB W211 E350 08 BlueTec

Did anybody encounter this problem before. We did attempt to chip tune a MB W211 E350 08
BlueTec EDC16+ direct at the ECU with BDM. As usual we backup the whole ECU,
modify the flash file, write it back and put the ECU back in the car, just like
we have done many times before. Ignition on, no fans, glow plug light one,
everythings cool, but then only about a sec run and the car dies. Tried a
couple different mods, all the same, org BDM file back, same situation. Against
my better knowledge we decide the ECU took a hit and needs to be replaced. Long
story short, backup ECU with org BDM file in it does the same thing, 1 sec run
and nothing. The Star gives us only 6 injector codes shorted to ground????
2503-008, 2504-008, ..., 2508-008. Has anyone seen this before, Star has no
further explanation? The only thing we found with those codes is something with
a clogged injector return line, but customer wants to go direct to the dealer
and they will go crazy on it lol

esepcially on sprinter most edc16 ecus get damaged if u open them to BDM. usually we cut a hole where the bdm pads are...like here

ok, so if the ECU got damaged, why is the 2nd ECU doing the same thing, both ECU damaged the exact same way, I doubt it, did anyone see those German posts of those injector codes 2503-008 and so on for all 6 injectors? They are talking of a clogged injector fuel return line to the diesel fuel filter, same behavior, starts and dies?

u did open both ecus?

besides nice job on cutting that ECU, what did you use a can opener lol

ahh yeah, how else could we play the backup bdm file in, we open them all the time, don't recall we killed one yet, really careful with the board ...

You probably have damaged the injector output stages.
Specially when you take the board out of the ecu housing, look at the cooling pads of the power mosfets on the backside of the pcb, the are connected to the drain.
So the heat conducting glue is also an insulator, replace the power Fets and take heatconducting isolation pads as was in the old Motronic ecu's.

Had this once with a Volvo EDC16.

Same thing happen me on sprinter it starts for 10 sec then die on both ecus your problem is you have killed both ecu damaged tracks on boards you need to cut a slot in ecu

wow, , never heard of cutting this ecu on this model, another good thread and the perils of opening ecu, that looks well dodgy cutting like that, but see the point to why has to be done like this, if prone to heat conducting and damaging board,
Out of interest, what tool did they use ominimicu to open ?
and how about after flash Glue it back or silicone to stop water dust etc ?

usually a dremel or a radial saw. after that yeah just top off with silicone.
on Sprinters edc16 always do like that for bdm. for remapp , dpf egr..etc obd read is enough!
so if sprinters are delicate...so must be other model that share sam ecu on Mercedes....my thought..from my experience

was going to say,,, surely obd poss on this ecu,
trusty kess or Fgtech,
Good info tho, lesson to others, Great forum, Great knowledge sharing,

I guess its possible, but we must have done like 50 EDC16 ECU's like that and never had an issue, thats why its a little bit strange that it comes twice in a row???

opened another 2 Sprinter EDC16+ ECU's, cloned them without problems, living on the edge i presume haha

i dunno mate...i never open them. also if u google or searchthe forum u ll see lots and lots f people damaging these ecus just by opening them

Why open ecu if you can do the job by OBD??? you just like pain?

sometimes u need BDM read to clone. or read eeprom to code stuff.immo etc..

I know my friend, i open a lot of this ecu?s to clone or repair, but this guy say " open to try chiptuning..."

long story short, we bought a 3rd used ECU, opened it carefully as usual, flashed it with the BDM backup and the mod flash file, the Bluetec started right up, runs perfect

Yeah no kidding we like trouble lol, for whatever reason our BS doesnt like the EDC16+ and we had the CMD with a reseller, so no other play than take the ECU out, believe me i wished i never had started this job, otherwise just for cloning ...

Listen guys got a 2009/10 merc sprinter 2.2
i try kess i also try fgtech eu via OBD
closest i got was a edc16 id on kess, tried K line and can,
wouldnt read just says unknown ecu / protocol, continue to attempt, then wake error,
Gagage ripped DPF apart, we have eml on,
i need to read this MOFO tomorrow,
i dont think its DELPHI looks like the upside down edc16,
if i got to rip a hole for bdm , then i got to, but is it worth trying pins to rear of ecu 1st ? then read as normal, or i got to bdm this ?
never had a issue wih edc16 obd, but this 2009/10 van, and not liking a read,
Any one got advice ?
i did notice battery voltage even with booster pack on stayed at 12.5/7 volts,
dont know if maybe try better volts on a read,

cheers
