Should be obd - short fuses for ign on, get pin code and program key. Shouldn't need a precode since it's an 04

must be pre-coded but not by dump as on new-er models with crypto-hi-lo,universal pre-code-ing page 4 & 5 & 6 & 7 on older models as it is 2004...same for touareg,phaethon,a8,equipped with KESSY....

I've tried to bridge fuses on these so many times never works, I use tango and do it on the bench so much quicker.

To clarify, yes it does need to be precode for the vehicle but not by CS

Did you cut the extra cut? If not you can't turn this ignition, the remote only works after you've turned ignition on/off a few times.

You may have locked the kessy, I've seen instructions on DK before in how to unlock.

Hi sparkz going back to the cuts, is it 8 cuts in ignition in the cayenne or 9?

These are some of the worst vehicles out there.. I have a 2004 Turdegg that comes back every couple months or so with the steering error.. Usually just clear the errors from the kessy module and it will start.. If you have AVDI you jump the fuses and power up the cluster and ecu and then precode the key and then put the car into learning mode and viola, you are programmed... with carprog you can remove the kessy, read the chip and build the key into the chip, once the key is in the chip you should be able to put the key in the ignition and the kessy will power up the bus that feeds the cluster and ecu.. There has been a few writeups about replacing the mosfets and the resistors..
http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/37055-keyless-kessy-entry-problem-fixed-after-5-dollars-and-1-hour-o/
I have done this on a couple... and have just read the 24cXX chip and wrote the info to a new/used kessy module..
What is the background on this car? customer loose keys? or is this a spare key? are you using a 42 chip? I had one awhile ago that the modules wouldn't talk on one of the can bus's, turns out it was a theft recovery and someone had replaced the passenger seat and the module still had it's info from the car it came from and was noising up that can bus.. unplugged the seat module and was able to talk to the other modules...
And the biggest problem on these is battery voltage...... These will kill a battery overnight if they don't go into sleep mode...
good luck,
Tim

Really???? I have never done that.. at least not in the last ten minutes... Good to see you got it back on the road... I hate it it when a solder looks perfect, but doesn't hold..
Take care,
Tim

Hello,
What happens if I want to add extra key to Cayenne 2003 and with some reason my new key will not program? If I put No. of keys '2' starting with original and after insert new key it won't program and dasy will say 1-2 and wait for correct key but I will not have correct key? Will the car start if I close procedure and try from beginning program only working key?
I'm asking cause I want to try Lonsdor with original Cayenne remote key with new PCF7946 precoded for Porsche Cayenne on Tango. But I'm afraid what happens if my key would not program as I heard different stories. Some say it need kessy precoding, some say it need standard precoding like I mentioned in Tango and some say it doesn't need any precoding till 2006.
I can do it via eeprom in Tango but would be easier via OBD and I'm ready to try but only If nothing bad happen if I put 2 keys to be program and my new key won't program with some reason and then I can just start again and program only existing key.
Anybody can answer my questions?
I wouldnt ask if this was standard VAG without electronic ignition, when I can have ign ON every time. I'm afraid if I close procedure when car waiting for 2nd key, I may not have ignition after
