Skybox f5s reboots every time on channel search

Hi guys no been on for a while had my skybox f5 now for a year and the other day it started to constantly reboot I've tried flashing with my null cable but won't connect the box rebooted like every 5 mins if I'm lucky I turned it all off and turned it back on today and it's not reboot yet I can't seem to rescan for channels as I do it gets to about 5% then reboots any other ideas I can use also my channel list have changed thx in advance

I have tried that with the latest from skybox..cc I've tried the list half may channels end up saying invalid channel now it's starting to reboot every 20 mins or so

The rebooting problem could be a sign that the mains adapter is on it's way out.

If you have another one around (12v +ve to centre pin & with a current (Amp) rating of 2A or more) then you could try that.

I was using the orig power supply until that went I found one at 10v and it worked for about a month then started to have this problem I only have another 12v but it's 500 a so if I purchase one from eBay should that fix my problem

I can't say for certain that a new power supply will cure your problem, but the fact that you are using a 10v one instead of 12v one could mean that it is the psu causing it.

You can use any 12v 2A psu as long as it has the 5.5/2.1 connector on the end, which most of them do. I wouldn't go for one that is specified for the skybox/openbox, as you can get better quality ones for around the same price (or less), such as this one:-

How do I update my channel list I no longer have sbo just comes up invalid channel it was there I watched the last we main event on it

The second post in AJ's channel list thread in the stickies shows you how to install a new channel list.

Are you sure that there is something on sbo at the moment? If there isn't then it will show invalid channel.

It usually says scrambled not invalid I watched the wee on it then my box started going funny I reset all setting and now the sbo channel says invalid

Hi again m8 I'm using a 12v 3a adaptor now and it still reboots on channel search and every 5 mins

Hi m8 so I've tried a orig new adaptor power supply and reflashed box through null cable and added my channel list but my box still keeps on rebooting do I need a new box ? Is there maybe a resistor or something blew in it ? It reboots every 2 mins now

The only other thing I can think of, is the LNB drawing too much current, but as it appears to be working normally, then I don't think it's very likely. If possible, you could try your box on a friends dish for a while to see how it goes.

It's unlikely to be a faulty component I would think.

Does your box still reboot with the LNB cable removed? If not, then it might be worthwhile removing the F plug, cutting an inch or 2 off the end of the cable, then preparing the end of the cable & refitting the F plug.

just unplug everything from your box and leave for a minute and retry
I know its simple but I had a f5s that kept rebooting and this worked for me
