Just got back from work.
Spent 2hrs in a training briefing about the new legislation that comes into force on the 1st of September in Scotland.
heres a list of whats going to be illegal:
BOGOF (Buy One Get One Free) deals on alcohol are prohibited.
Prices below standard (ie 25% off etc) are prohibited. no more cases for ?7
Absoloutly no promotional deals.
Selling Alcohol outside of its designated area is prohibited (this means that stacking pallets of beer at the front door of a supermarket will be illegal, the ramifications of this are that theres going to be one isle and one isle only at christmas, which wll get blootered as soon as 10:00 hits) when theres no more on the shelf i would need to effectively go into the warehouse, bring it out and have you follow me to the isle before i can hand it over both of us would be breaking the law lol
Selling alcohol after 22:00 or before 10:00 is illegal (even having it in your trolley on the premises between these hours is illegal EVEN if youve already paid for it lol )
Clubs can no longer do those ?15 entry and as many drinks as you want for 1p deals.
Its illegal to sell alcohol to a drunk person in a pub... So how the hell are you able to serve drinks because after a guys consumed over 4 units (4 whiskeys or equivalent to 2 pint of 4.75%ABV beer) hes legaly drunk.
Theres more but i cant for the life of me remember off the top of my head.
I dont know if this only effects Scotland, but Scotlands usualy the pilot region (no smoking ban springs to mind before the entire UK followed suit)
The gubbernment has gone too far here.
