ANOTHER 200 SERIES RESET PLEASE

Its not accepting keys,when this car came in it only stated with touching the key to the start button,tried adding another key so that proximity could work but it kept on failing.
That is when i thought resetting keys and starting the whole key programming would solve the problem,but all i get is"place key on passenger seat,and then key programming failed.
What is the part responsible for proximity?we have put in a brand new smart access box but it has not made any difference.
I have 3 keys with password 98,2 brand new and the other is the original key.
