Hi guys,

looking for for a bit of help and advice if possible. I'm new to this so looking for some advice!!

I have a Skybox F5 which I have had for a few years.

recently the picture has been very jumpy to the extent that you struggle to watch any programs! It seems that the signal strength jumps a lot from 70-80% down to 7%!

my picture has always jumped a bit but never as bad as this. Can anyone help me with this please??

i have just updated the channel list!

cheers

Have you got a family or friend that you could pop around to and hook your f5 to their setup. If the problem persists at their place then it seems your f5 is goosed, if the f5 works OK at their place then it could be a faulty lnb, cabling or a misaligned dish at your place.

Do you have any trees etc. that might be in line with your dish? The meters on these boxes are not very linear & tend to jump around a lot for a very small change in signal level.

As martin035 says it could also be your LNB, cabling or misaligned dish. If your dish is fairly easy to get to, it might be worth giving it a small tweak to see if your signal improves. Cloudy weather tends to attenuate the signal, which will be more noticable if you already have a weak signal.

It's also possible that it's come loose slightly & is moving in the wind.

Cheers for the reply guys!

i went up onto the roof today and tweeked about a bit. A bit too much cause I think the lnb has gone completely now!! Lol.

where is the best place to get a new one and what type should I be going for??

as for the mention of trees, there are some high trees which are in line with where the dish should be pointing but they are about 30-40 meters away and the dish is on my chimney stack which is quite high up as well. Would they still make a difference??
