Genuine AVDI users.. Has anyone successfully adapted (transfer immo data) 2nd hand EDC17/MED17 ECU with AVDI by OBD2? I have the Bootmode option, which works great. I was wondering if also possible by OBD2 and what the limitations were. I'm considering the OBD2 option so I don't have to open the ECU, but wondering what the success rate is and if waste of $. Thank you for any advice you can provide.

When you already own old data then it should be possible. In my opinion better spend less and have same/better equipment. Or you need spend additional 500eur for reading it.

Was just wondering if it worked.. sometimes there is a benefit to not opening the ECU for boot mode read/write (void dealer warranty, etc).

You mean to read cs pin etc, yes ist working fine. But you need to connect direct to ecu not obd. If you have immo data you can adapt via obd if the pc is the same.

I cant tell you about avdi but for sure same procedure work in smok uhds and same activation contain reading data without opening ecu. Whole immo package from smok is cheaper as an053 from avdi and work fully offline.

OBD universal pinout - To 01- ECU working on the bench?

I have AN053 (ImmoV adaptation) and AN54 (MED17/EDC17 Read/Write Boot mode), but can't test/use AN053 for ECU because I don't have AN048 (MED17/EDC17 by OBD2). This is why I'm asking, because if immo data adaptation works by OBD2 (in car or even on bench via direct CANpowertrain connection), then it makes things a bit easier to adapt second hand ECU without opening (which voids warranty and risks ECU damage).

I also have Smok UHDS, but did not know SMOK offered VAG MED17/EDC17 options.

Adaptation must be made with immo/cluster connected and can be made on car. Read need be made with bypass of gateway. Smok already have new option in test stage but it should be available for all soon.

I checked SMOK reseller website, but don't see options for VAG ECU.. See other ECU versions for other brands, but nothing on VAG. Maybe I'll contact Grzegorz (developer) directly to inquire. Curious why I was not aware of Smok UHDS ECU options for VAG if they in fact exist.

It used to have CAN EDC15/16 earlier.
Something extra is on its way.
It is very new. Not official yet. Plug your tool in the computer. Don't need to connect to vehicle. It asks for update. And you will see some new nice options. Your gone smile when you see them.

You can only clone/edit/update immo data in donor ECU with Boot mode. I don't think its possible via OBD2 on 2013 with TProt (only by dealer). How did you damage the original ECU?
